What is the iTouch?

The Apple iTouch is an all-in-one multimedia device. The iTouch is not just a music or video player, but it allows you to connect to the Internet, utilize applications and now listen to music on the go without the use of headphones. The iTouch is on its second generation model and now comes with built-in speakers, external volume controls and the ability to download applications with a patch the previous model required.

What is new about the iTouch 2G?

One of the niftiest features of the new iTouch is the built-in speakers. While they do not provide the most effective sound quality, they serve the basic purpose of giving you the opportunity to listen to music out and about without headphones. You can control the volume either on the device or via the external buttons. However, depending on the type of case you use to protect the unit, you may not have access to the volume controls. This defeats the purpose of external volume controls completely.

Since you do not have to download a patch to use applications, you can begin to load them onto the iTouch immediately. You can do this via the iTunes Music Store by connecting it to the computer or you can do it over a Wi-Fi connection directly to the device. Once the application is installed, you can click on the desktop icon and begin to use it. The Nike+ feature is also a nice add-on for the health conscious iTouch user who wants to monitor how much they are walking, running or jogging during the day.

Is the iTouch 2G worth it?

Overall, the second generation iTouch builds upon the unique features of the first model. It is an amazing multimedia device for users on the go who want to be able to have access to all sorts of entertainment. If you are connected to Wi-Fi, the possibilities for the iTouch are limitless. You can download the latest music, movies, photos, applications and enjoy them all in the palm of your hand.
