Jack Russells are a wonderful breed of terrier that can be a perfect companion for many people. However, there is a great deal of inaccurate and misleading Jack Russell information out there that can lead people to choose this breed for the wrong reasons. The dogs that have recently experienced a great deal of fame on television and in the movies have created a false understanding of the breed. Before you choose your next dog, make sure that you have learned accurate Jack Russell information to make an informed decision.

It should be noted that if you are looking for Jack russell information from the American Kennel Club and the Jack Russell Terrier Association of America, both of these organizations have changed the name of the dog (and in the case of the latter, also a change in the organization's name) to the Parson Russell Terrier as of April 1, 2003.

Jack russell information- like the breed - finds its origins in England. It is a working terrier dog that was bred uniquely for hunting. However, the dog remains quite a versatile dog that can take on many working and hunting tasks. This is because the dog is very affectionate, eager to please, intelligent, alert, keen, and full of energy. Furthermore, the breed is a terrific mouser!

As much as Jack Russell information lists the breed as hunters and workers, they also make great pets for families who are willing to spend lots of time with the dog to give him or her all of the necessary attention needed and to burn off a surprising amount of energy.

Though Jack Russell Terriers are small dogs, their size can be misleading. Apartments and city lifestyles are often extremely unsuitable for this breed which cannot tolerate a sedate lifestyle. Jack Russells need the opportunity to burn the equivalent amount of energy that is usually found in a large, active dog. If they are not able to get rid of their energy in an acceptable way, they will get into mischief and find other - more undesirable and destructive - ways to get the job done.

If you can provide this kind of high attention, high activity lifestyle, then you may find that once you've finished learning Jack Russell information, you'll be heading out to find your new puppy.

I got bitten by a Jack Russell once, so not my favourite breed of dog. It was quite funny as I had a bad foot and needed to visit a nurse at her home. Her dog came out and bit me on the good leg, so I didn't know which leg to limp on when I came out. The dog's name was Ceasar (the nurse called it back but it decided to seize me instead!)
