Jobs On Cruise Ships Are Great Fun

A cruise ship is like a small, floating city and there are plenty of jobs on cruise ships.

How would you like to travel to some of the most exotic locations in the world? You could visit places; most people never have the opportunity to see including Australia, New Zealand, the Far East, the Caribbean and many more.

When I was young I always wanted to see the world and at the tender age of 19 I started to travel with my backpack to South East Asia. My very first trip was Sri Lanka and Thailand. A year later I went to South America, Brazil, Paraguay and Argentine. By now the traveling bug had a firm grip on me. What to do? I wanted to do more traveling but my finances did not allow me to. So a friend of mine had the glorious idea to try and get a job on a cruise ship. That was the answer to all my dreams. I applied for a job as a waitress and was lucky to get one.

If you want to see the world, that’s the way to go, at one point I woke up in a different tropical island every day. What a ball I had!

I made friends and met people from a lot of different parts of the world. And the best part, I experienced all of the above and was getting paid for, tax-free.

Let me tell you there are many employment opportunities on a cruise ship. You can find up to 900 different positions on a cruise ship. The top jobs people are looking for aboard a cruise ship are, waiters and waitresses, chefs and cooks, bartenders, casino workers, fitness instructors, entertainers and musicians, dance teachers and medical staff. But there are plenty of other positions available on a ship like this.

To obtain a job on a cruise ship you don’t need cruise ship experience. If you commit yourself to work for a longer period of time on a cruise ship you can actually climb the cruise ship employment ladder. There is good money to be made and don’t forget it is all tax-free and you don’t have any living expenses.

Here is a bit of advice of what to do before you apply for a job on a cruise ship.

Become very clear why you want to work on a cruise liner because if you are, the better the impression on a potential cruise ship employer will be.

Here are a few suggestions:

Is it because you want to see places in the world you otherwise would not be able to see?

Maybe you want to do it because you want to do something different with your life, something out of the ordinary.

Or you might see it as an opportunity to save money.

You might want to start a new career.

Those are only a few reasons, why you would like to work on a cruise ship.

Before I come to an end, let me tell you about one downfall in this industry I can think of. It is not such a good idea to come and work on a cruise ship if you have not got an outgoing personality. You also need to be aware that you are going to be away from your family and friends for up to four to six months at a time. And if you need your own space a lot, this might not be the ideal job for you.

I for one absolutely loved it and this was the most exciting time of my life.
