John Krasinski, born October 20th, 1979, is an American actor best known for his role of Jim Halpert on the NBC hit comedy The Office. He’s also landed numerous small roles in films such as Dreamgirls, The Holiday, and Jarhead, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Jamie Foxx. He also had a cameo in the film Kinsey, a biopic of Professor Alfred Kinsey, played by Liam Neeson.

Krasinski’s nice guy charm seems to woo both girls and guys, as girls seem to fall in love with his boy-next-door demeanor and guys can’t help but want to befriend him. After seeing him on various talk shows, it’s become apparent that the real life John Krasinski is much like his Office counterpart Jim Halpert, as they’re both likable, easygoing guys.

Krasinski was born and raised in Newton, Massachusetts, where he played on the same little league team and attended Newton South High School with B.J. Novak, his co-star on The Office. Novak plays Ryan Howard. In fact, Krasinski’s first acting job was in a high play that was written and cast by Novak himself.

Following high school, Krasinski went on to graduate from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, as a playwright with honors. His career in television began in 2002 when he landed a gig as an intern for Late Night with Conan O’Brien.

The Office premiered on NBC in 2005 as a mid-season replacement. Before the show even aired, the decision to do a re-make of the original BBC program was met with a lot of criticism. To make matters worse, the NBC pilot was almost a word-for-word copy of the original BBC pilot. However, as the show progressed, many fans felt that the show had earned its place as a high quality, original hit.
