What is Ketamine

Ketamine is an anaesthetic drug legally produced for use in human & animal medicine. Ketamine also has hallucinogenic effects & there has been recreational use of the drug in many parts of the world for many years. Ketamine was originally created for use as a human anaesthetic, and is still used as a general anaesthetic for children, persons of poor health, and in veterinary medicine. Ketamine belongs to a class of drugs called "dissociative anaesthetics," which separate perception from sensation.

Effects Of Ketamine:

  • At lower doses, Ketamine has a mild, dreamy feeling . Users report feeling floaty and slightly outside their body.
  • Higher doses produce a hallucinogenic effect, and may cause the user to feel very far away from their body. This experience is often referred to as entering a "K-hole" and has been compared to a near death experience with sensations of rising above one's body. Many users find the experience spiritually significant , while others find it frightening. While in a K-hole it is very difficult to move. People usually remain seated or lying down during the experience.
  • Ketamine can be Stimulating, creating feelings of increased energy & euphoria. Other effects may include floating sensations, numbness, loss of time, nausea & loss of control from the body.
  • Ketamine may cause blurred vision & difficulty in moving & speaking.
  • Unlike LSD & Magic Mushrooms, Ketamine does not cause genuine visual & auditory hallucinations.
  • Ketamine can cause a tremendous psychological dependence. The dissociation from one's consciousness experienced with ketamine can be highly seductive to some people, and there are many cases of ketamine addiction.

How is Ketamine used?

Ketamine can be snorted up the nose, injected or swallowed. The method of use will influence the effects.

  • When Ketamine is snorted the effects begin in a few minutes & last for about 15-30 minutes.
  • When swallowed the effects usually begin in 15 minutes & last for about 1-3 hours.
  • When injected the efffects begin within a minute & last for 1-3 hours.
  • Occasionally ketamine has been sold in capsule form as "Ecstasy," although it is nothing like MDMA (real ecstasy).
