knitting abbreviations for beginners

P=Purl
Alt = alternate
Beg = begin
Cont=continue
Dec = decrease
Foll = following
Inc = increase
Incl = including
O = no rows
Abbreviations
K = knit
P= Purl
SL= slip stitch
Psso = pass slip stitch over
Tbl = through back of loop
Ybk = yarn back- tack yarn under needle from purl to knit position
Yft = yarn front- bring yarn under needle from knit to purl position
Yfwd = yarn forward- bring yarn under needle then over needle to knit position
Yon = yarn over needle to knit position
Yr n yarn round needle to purl position
M1 = make one stitch
Garter = knit all rows
Stocking stitch = 1 row knit 1 row purl
Purl fabric = 1 row purl 1row knit
Patt = pattern
Rem = remain
Rep = repeat
St,sts = stitch or stitches
Tog = together
cm = centimeter
mm = millimeter
ins = inches
Approx = approximately
Below is how to learn to cast on your stitchs
This method requires the use of two needles
A) Make a slip knot and place on left hand needle
B) Insert right hand needle through the slip knot and pass
the yarn over the right needle
C) Pull a loop through
D) Place this loop on the left hand needle
E) Insert right hand needle between the two stitches on the left hand needle. Wind yarn round point of right hand needle.
F) Draw a loop through and place this loop on left hand needle.
Repeat steps E and F until the required number of stitches are on the left needle.

HELP! I have been knitting for decades, however I am right now stuck with the abbreviation: SK2P. What does it represent?
it means the following
'sk2p' means: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit two together, pass slipped stitch over I hope this helps you Diane
this should be helpful as there are not many people teaching knitting skills these days
there is but it is in a course you have to pay for it and i do not believe you should have to pay to learn to knitt
