Labradoodle information from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Labradoodle puppies are extremely cute looking, and have faces that can melt the coldest of hearts. If you have a doodle puppy or are thinking about getting one, it is imperative you don't become blind sided by the adorable dog when he is a pup. If you do, and you cannot resist saying "No" to your little pooch, you'll regret it when your dog develops into an adult without discipline. Suddenly, the cuteness will vanish and in its place could be an aggressive, destructive and out-of-control pet. This is why it is important for you to obtain control of your pooch and begin his training when he is very young.
Isn't training your puppy and disciplining him as soon as you welcome him home mean? Shouldn't you wait until labradoodle puppies are at least 6 months of age or older before you begin to train them? Absolutely not! First of all, it is not mean to begin laying down the law or your house rules to the pup as soon as he enters your home. Essentially, if you don't want him to develop certain behaviors and exhibit them when he is older, don't allow your doodle to get away with it when he is younger.
For instance, if you don't want your adult dog to be up on your furniture such as your couch or bed, do not allow him access to this furniture when he is a pup. This also applies to:
- Begging
- Jumping
- Whining
- Biting
- Barking
Furthermore, if you want an obedient labradoodle, you will need to ensure your young pet knows his place in your pack. You can help teach your dog his place by...
- Feeding him after you and your family eat
- Making him wait and enter through doors last, behind everyone else.
- Meaning what you say. Don't tell your dog one thing and do another, or tell him "no" sometimes and let him get away with it on other occasions. You are only as good as your word.
- Ensuring that everyone in your family follows the same rules when it comes to teaching your puppies, and all the same commands are used.
Thus, you need to make certain that you are consistent and persistent with all the rules you teach your labradoodle puppies. You need to start training and socialization immediately if you want them to grow into a charming and obedient dog.
