Freedom From Glasses and Contacts
The most obvious benefit for having great vision thanks to Lasik is freedom from having to wear cumbersome eye glasses or contacts. You'll be able to live an active lifestyle without fear of loosing or having your glasses fall off. You won't have to replaced damaged lenses, nor would have have to constantly clean or replace costly contacts.
Believe it or not, there are many careers that you cannot participate in if you wear glasses or contacts, for example airline pilots and some military personnel have restrictions for wearing corrective lenses.
Long Term Savings
While the initial cost of undergoing the Lasik procedure may seem high, ranging from $1,500 to $2,500 per eye depending on the region where you live and the expertise of your eye surgeon. With that being said, imagine the cost of replacing your eyeglasses and undergoing the periodic eye exams.
Think of the cost of replenising your contact lens cleaner and/or purchasing new contacts periodically. Over the span of your lifetime, it's very likely that Lasik surgery would end up costing less money in the long run. This is often the biggest disadvantage to having Lasik eye surgery, and with these facts in mind it certainly makes having the procedure more attractive.

As far as safety is concerned LASIK these days is very safe, and a great alternative to glasses and especially contact lenses.
