About LASIK surgery
LASIK is eye surgery with laser technology intended for people with myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. This eye surgery has several procedures to follow before and after the surgery. Before the surgery, a patient with contact lenses is asked to stop wearing contact lenses 5 days or even a month before the surgery. Contact lenses change the retina of the eyes and will return to its early condition after a couple of days or weeks without wearing them.
During the surgery, the patient is awake of course with anesthetic around the eyes. After the surgery, a patient needs to take prescribed antibiotics and also routinely moisturize the eyes with anti-inflammatory eye drops. They should sleep much more and avoid light. Usually a protective goggles is given to prevent them from rubbing the eyes when sleeping.

LASIK surgery risks
LASIK is a surgery and like other surgeries, there are risks which may follow after the operation. The worst is loosing your vision, which means the surgery makes you blind. My friend told me about a friend of him who loosed vision after the eye surgery which he did couple of months before his wedding. Sadly, the girl left him because he lose both vision. However his case is very rare.
Some other risks which have been reported are getting double vision, dry eye syndrome and over correction or under correction. Double vision is when the patient develops glare which is affecting nighttime vision seriously. While dry eye syndrome happens because there is not enough tears to keep the eyes moist. Over correction or under correction is when the LASIK surgery does not change your vision too much or even it may cause it worse than before.

Cautions for LASIK eye surgery
There are some cautions which you need to consider before applying for a LASIK surgery. LASIK is a technology, it does not represent a company and is not a brand of certain medicine device. Therefore, ensure that you have compared the devices used. LASIK is a device which is controlled by human. In this case, level of experience of the doctor should also your big consideration.
Beware with the LASIK promotions you receive. Even though the cost for LASIK surgery is more affordable these days, you still have to investigate as many eye centers you know to get better comparison of the result of the surgeries, not the cost. If they offer you to give your money back if the operation fails, don't take it, because there is never a guarantee in medicine, moreover, it's about your eyes which are very precious.
Perhaps the last caution is to read and understand all the procedure and agreement before and after the eye surgery. There was a guy I read in the newspaper who shared his complaints after he had LASIK surgery which caused his right eye blurred. His complaint was, he did not know that there was that kind of risk after LASIK surgery and thought that his doctor is not responsible for not telling him about it before.
LASIK surgery costs
How much is a LASIK eye surgery anyway? One eye is about $1,000 for LASIK. So if both eyes, it means $2,000. This is just an average and different companies may have different numbers, depending on the procedures and manufacturers. If you see advertisement below that amount, let's say $500 for an eye, is quite hard to believe because usually there would be more follow ups after the surgery.
