Learn Albanian with Audio Books

The Albanian language can be difficult to learn. If you can't find a good native Albanian speaker to teach you, audio books are a great way to receive excellent tuition.

Pimsleur Albanian audio books are a great way to make fast progress. The Albanian language has some specialities that are difficult to grasp from textbooks only. Listening to an audio recording from a native speaker repeatedly makes picking up the right intonation and inflexions a lot easier!

History of the Albanian Language

Albanian was proven to be an Indo-European language in 1854 by the German philologist Franz Bopp. The Albanian language comprises its own branch of the Indo-European language family.

Establishing longer relations, Albanian is quiten often compared to the Balto-Slavic languages on the one hand and the German language on the other. both of these languages share a number of isoglosses with the Albanian language. Furthermore, Albanian has undergone a vowel shift in which the stressed, long 'o' has fallen to an 'a', pretty much like in the Balto-Slavic languages and opposite to the German language.
