teaching online languages using web 2.0 tools

hello, and welcome to this my hub page dedicated to "make money online with language learning".

I have discovered recently some interesting learning communities dedicated to language learning. In this hub page, I´ll be updating the different information that i find, and try to compare which features are best in each of these sites.

Also I decided to make a comparative of the three sites which gave me a better impression.

The design and quality of Live Mocha, located in the USA, is fairly good, but in my opinion it´s a bit to narrow, since you can also choose from six languages, and they provide you with their own teachers, so as far as I know, you can not make money as a teacher using this one. This might be interesting for mainstream, ironic that mocha is an arabic kind of coffee, but you can´t learn arabic in live mocha.

Italki , which i think is located in Shanghai, China, gives you the chance to meet online friends, but , again you have to cope with their teachers and they don´t offer any offline features, so if you are interested in teaching you have to work for them in order to make money through this site.

So I decided to give a try to palabea, I was really impressed by the design. They are located in Berlin, Germany, a cool place to be in Europe,I can tell because i live i Berlin too. They are still in Beta phase, and some functions require improvements, like the virtual classrooms for instance, they allow every user to be a teacher, and then the other users can vote your lessons, and decide if you are worth a try.

At palabea you can upload your videos, podcasts, docs to promote your teaching and through their own communication tool á la skype, you can do live classes, as far as i know only one on one.

Another cool feature at palabea is the offline language exchange search tool with google maps beside the online one. This enables the user, beside the online language exchange, to find real people in their hometown to hang out with and share their knowledge in real face to face interaction.

So far palabea´s features, users and design had attracted my atention the most. And I´ve done my money thanks to it, it´s a great job and i learn something everyday from my pupils from around the world.

It would be great to have a place to make multiconference, but as far as i have searched ..no matches found.

Thanks for your attention, feedbacks always welcome

cheers
