You might consider a leather headboard if you are looking to redecorate your bedroom There are quite a few advantages to a leather headboard.  One advantage is that it is much more economical than buying brand new bedroom furniture.  In reality, changing the headboard is a quick and cost effective way to update any bedroom.  A leather headboard bed accommodates just about any decorating style.

Choose Your Style

You may think your bedroom is in astyle that would not accommodate a leather headboard.  Beds and other furnishings, even in a Victorian or Old English style can look good with a leather headboard to accent the room.  Keep in mind that a more ornate headboard works best with these styles.  A leather headboard panel with clean lines complements a more contemporary style of furniture.  Even a French Country style can look good with a leather headboard.  Beds and furniture in an ivory or tan color can achieve this look successfully.  Make sure that the headboard shape is slightly decorative, but not quite as ornamental as the Victorian style. 

Shopping for Your Leather Headboard, Beds, and Other Accessories

Before shopping to buy leather headboards, beds, or any other furniture, you need to measure the room.  Coming home to find you do not have space for a king sized bed because  you would have no room for anything else would be most disappointing.  If you are satisfied with the size of your bed there is less to consider when measuring.  If you have decided on a bigger bed, make sure to measure the room.  You will want to have space to walk about the room comfortably without having to circumnavigate your way to a closet. 

If you are going to purchase the headboard and bed as a set, you need not spend a lot of time measuring the bed.  If you are only replacing your headboard, you will need to measure the width of the bed so you can buy the appropriate size.  You will also need to know how high your bed is so that you can purchase a headboard that will meet the height of your mattress. 

Make sure that you have a sturdy bed frame and that the bolts attaching the headboard to the frame are fastened securely so that you have a safe place to sleep.

Bed Coverings and Accessories

Whatever you do, avoid matching the bed coverings with the color of the furnishings.  As the room centers around the bed, the bed should tie the furnishings in with the walls and other textiles in the room.  In general, the headboard should always match the furnishings while the bed coverings, pillows, and other accent items match the drapes and carpeting of the room.
