Leather items have always held a fascination for humans that extended from the utilitarian functions to the erotic fantasies.  Thus, we find ourselves with business items like leather padfolios and a leather envelope and bondage products like corsets and collars.  There is even a leather will from an animal lover!

From Pakistan with Love, Leather and Lace Fetishes

Muslim countries are generally not known for their leather fetishes in its truest sense of the word especially when it comes to pigskin leather.  Sure, Muslims can use leather padfolios because their religion allow them to, except that it should not be made of pigskin, but for Muslims to make leather BDSM equipment is, well, very surprising indeed.

The Muslims in particular are two enterprising Pakistani brothers who are making a killing in profits manufacturing leather and lace BDSM equipment for the American market.  Not surprising for some, their market research revealed that the majority of their fan base belonged to the middle and upper classes of society and most of them were Democrats.

Their risky and risqué secret has remained, well, largely a secret in the very conservative Pakistani society for many reasons.  First, the workers had no idea whatsoever what they were making.  Again, this should not be surprising as BDSM equipment is not as common as, say, leather padfolios.

Second, they bribed local officials and Muslim clerics to keep their secret operations.  And who knows what other commodity aside from currency they have been bribed with?  Maybe a sampling of the leather products, which you can be sure do not include leather padfolios.

The brothers sell their wares in online sites and commercial stores in the United States and in Europe, which brings in more than a million US dollars to the company.  And for a business that started on just $800, these brothers could teach Americans a thing or two about guts and glory in business.

From an Animal Lover’s Body, Human Leather

If you think that skinning a dead animal to make into consumer products like leather magnetic money clip is scary and messy, just imagine skinning a dead human for its leather.  Think of serial murderer Ed Gein who liked to skin his female victims for human leather, which was one of the inspirations, by the way, for the Buffalo Bill character in the movie Silence of the Lambs.  And no, you can be sure that leather padfolios were not one of Gein’s products since he had a fetish for literally wearing his victims.

Anyways, back to the topic.  The current People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) president, Ingrid Newkirk, probably did not have Ed Gein’s purpose in mind when she made out a bizarre will that almost sounds cannibalistic.  Then again, it’s for a good cause - focus on the plight of animals in relation to leather harvesting (think leather padfolios) – that bizarre is good in this case though there is considerable doubt that the executors of the will – PETA – will indeed carry it out.

Leather-wise, Newkirk’s will states that her skin be removed and produced into leather products such as purses to remind humanity that animal and human leather are similar.  Also, her human leather products ought to be a reminder that both are not fabric in any sense of the word and that both are totally unnecessary.  Good point but who in his right mind will do that? Maybe Ed Gein will but he’s not in his right mind!  Or rather, was not because he’s dead, thankfully.  Maybe Newkirk should think up of a new gimmick.

From a Tech Geek, Leather-Loving Gadgets

If your leather padfolios are not enough to satisfy your love and lust for leather products, maybe these leather-bound gadgets will assuage it.  First, there is the leather computer keyboard that comes in two forms: the labeled version and the unlabeled version.  No, this does not pertain to designer labels.  Instead, the former is easier to use than the latter because the labels on the keyboard are embossed on the leather.

Second, there are leather-clad laptops that do away with the boring black aluminum casing.  Leather is very buttery to the touch but very protective of your laptop against scratches.  Third, you will love the leather mouse pad made of carbon fiber.  It’s very luxurious and very attractive although it probably will not do much for your mouse.

With all these leather products around you, expand your horizons beyond the leather padfolios you have now.  After all, life is too short to be bound to one type of leather product, right?
