Discovery

From the discovery of LED lighting in the 1920s, up to the present day utilisation and improvements of the technology, there has never been a more versatile light source for use in the home - indoor and outdoor.

LED light technology can be incorporated into everything from household light bulbs to garden ornaments. The small amount of energy required to power LED’s aides the production of small discreet devices, such as tiny adhesive lights for wardrobes, cupboards, garages etc.

Garden Ornaments

There is an increasing boom for garden ornaments which light up at night. These devices use LED’s and often a solar panel. This keeps energy use to a real low. The devices can charge in the day and then illuminate at night, the low energy consumption of the LED’s allowing an extensive use without the need for battery changes.

Versatility

The versatility of LED lighting can be seen by the array of applications available for the home. They can be used to create either subtle mood lighting by strategic implementation around the house; illuminating walls, alcoves, stairs, virtually anything you’d like to emphasise.

They can be used in night lights for children. They can be used in devices such as shower heads that change colour with the temperature (red for hot, blue for cold etc.). They can be used with fibre optic cabling to create strings of lights, or a net like display (which could be used on floors or walls).

Summary

Whether you want LED lighting indoors or outdoors, LED lighting offers great versatility with economical, ecological and aesthetic benefits.
