There are many copy cats of the popular LEGO building block but truthfully none compare to the original. A great example of this fact is the popularity of LEGO figures. These are extremely collectible.

There have not been very many changes to the LEGO figure over the years. The original LEGO figures did not have movable arms and legs but this was changed in 1978 to the current version of the LEGO figure. There are different versions of LEGO figures now but the basics of the mini figures have not changed.

These figures are also called minifigs and mini figures by fans, and some just call them LEGO people.

LEGO Star Wars Figures

The LEGO theme enjoying the biggest amount of growth is easily the Star Wars LEGO theme. Though a scant ten years old, the Star Wars LEGO sets are huge in popularity and are helping bring new fans to the already robust LEGO fanbase.

The Star Wars LEGO figures are very easily the most fun to collect of the different themed LEGO figures. There are quite a few LEGO Star Wars figures that are nearly impossible to get your hands on. A great example of this is the LEGO Jango Fett figure. Since Jango Fett is inlcuded in only one Star Wars LEGO Set, and that set is discontinued, it is a very hard to find LEGO mini figure. The other reason the LEGO Star Wars figures are in such high demand is because of the overall popularity of the Star Wars films. Everybody loves Star Wars and those who may not care for it have certainly known somebody who does.

LEGO Batman Figures

There are not very many comic book heroes that are more well known than Batman himself. With the different movies that have been made around the Batman world it is no wonder he is so popular. Most recently we had the Dark Knight film in the summer of 2008. The LEGO Group has released a few Batman LEGO Sets that include some very fun to collect LEGO Batman figures.

Though the recent Dark Knight film has proven to be a huge draw the LEGO Group may be shying away from future LEGO Batman sets because of the amount of violence the film had.

LEGO Castle Figures

The LEGO Castle series of play sets is an original hit for the LEGO Group. The LEGO Group is always experimenting with LEGO themes with many having a very short life span but the Castle series has defied time and been a huge success for LEGO. Castle LEGO Sets are still produced today and should be for quite some time.

LEGO Castle Figures were some of the first LEGO figures to be unique from each other. With different weapons, tools and even animals, the LEGO Castle figures were very fun to collect and display even without the other LEGO pieces that were included. Being an older theme, there are many LEGO Castle sets that are considered hard to find and very expensive. The LEGO Group struck gold with the original Castle LEGO series and continue to produce these today!
