Leopard Hints and Tips

Option+Click Airport Reveal: Option+Click on the Airport symbol in your finder bar gives you detailed info on your WiFi connection, including connection speed and transmit rate.

Dictionary Reversal: If you told your dictionary to learn a word, like a company name, while you were writing for business, you can tell it to "unlearn" the word later in Leopard. Just right click on the word and select "unlearn" as your option.

Folder Sharing: Highlight your folder and click Command+I to pull up the sharing window on the fly and allow people on your network to see your work.

Permanent Delete (Time Machine Files): Clicking the "gear" icon in "present view" while the file you want to delete is selcted in Time Machine takes you to an option to delete all Time Machine backups of the file.

Completing The Print Cycle: Leopard keeps the printer icon open in the dock after a print cycle completes, for some reason. To go back to having it quit once the print job is done, right click on the printer icon in the dock and select Auto Quit.

Stack Recent Things In The Dock: If you are not comfortable working in Terminal, skip this one. If you are, go to Terminal and enter defaults write com.apple.dock persistent-others -array-add ‘{ “tile-data” = { “list-type” = 1; }; “tile-type” = “recents-tile”; }’ - then you do a KillAll Dock command (this resets your dock) and you should see your stack of recent items.

See Where Your File Is Stored: Under the "View" menu in thefinder bar you can use "View Path Bar" to see exactly where the file you are looking at is stored.

Move Your Window To Any Space: Just drag it to the side of your screen and wait a moment. Leopard will add it to your Spaces.

I had to copy these off to my hard drive. The airport trick will be real handy, I've used it already.

I also like the Amazon Leapord selections at the bottom of the hub. Not your usual Mac selections.

Thanks for the info. If Macs were the same price as the PC's - we would all own Macs... http://www.steiffbearsshop.com
