Activist Al and activist Jesse are at it again. Fair or not, they go after their prey with vengeance. Legitimate or not, they harp and harp at their targets till the bandwagon fills to the brim.

Remember Al Sharpton’s participation in drumming of Don Imus out of the radio business? Remember Jesse Jackson’s hot microphone comment expressing his desire to remove Obama’s nuts? (Read) Mr. Jackson apologized as do all people in the public eye when, and only when, they have squirmed their way into a corner.

My point here is that these two ministers, who claim to be men of God, invite themselves, inappropriately in my opinion, into the affairs of anyone they do not like when there is only a sliver of justification for getting on the public bandwagon. That’s how activists do things. Probably always will.

Enter Rush Limbaugh
Now, they have participated in the successful move to prevent Rush Limbaugh from investing in a professional sports team, the St. Louis Rams. Apparently activist Al and activist Jesse do not feel Rush is fit for owning part of a sports team. Al and Jesse, and bunches of others, seem to think Rush is a racist.

I doubt that Rush is racist. Rush says he isn’t and from what I’ve learned so far, there is no credible documentation that Rush is a racist. His critics steadfastly claim he has made statements only a racist could deliver but they do not come up with credible documentation. I suspect most such assertions are a result of hearsay. His enemies use, and will continue to use, statements by Rush that even mention the word black as proof of racism.

Not good enough
More than relaying gossip from one enemy to another is essential in order to kill every worm in the can that has been opened. His critics better come up with proof or, if Rush proceeds as I expect, he will be vindicated and his enemies will have more than just egg on their faces.

Who cares and why
We should all care. When we allow one to destroy another’s dream, our guaranteed pursuit of happiness becomes a joke. In Rush’s case, it looks like he is on his way to correct what he thinks is a wrong committed against him. He has announced that he either has or will offer those making false accusations against him an opportunity to admit wrong, retract their statements and apologize. I infer if the false accusers do not, then Rush will let a judge or a jury decide the outcome.

Rush will survive
Rush has money and perseverance, two necessities for winning. If no allegation against Rush is proven, he will be victorious in a way that will cause every weasel in the country to stop in his or her tracks before attempting the same stunt. The wind will be sucked out of the weasel’s sails while still at the dock.

It is foolish to believe Rush will drop out of sight and out of mind over this incident. He has had his share of failures but he is not a failure - far from it. I dare say the majority of us would love to experience his success, whatever our field of endeavor.
