The Liquid Fasting Diet: What You Need to Know

Ever thought about trying to lose weight using a liquid only diet? Think these diets are just a hoax? Actually, these liquid diets can be quite healthful if they are undertaken properly. While not as stressful to your body as a water-only fast you can still reap many of the benefits of cleansing your system and well as giving the organs of your digestive system a much deserved break. Juice diets also allow you to take in the nutrients your body needs to be healthy and repair itself. If you want to know more about liquid fasting diets, read on.

In a liquid fasting diet, generally everything you consume is run through a juicer or blender. In fact, most experts on the liquid fasting diets recommend you invest in a good juicer if you plan to try this diet. They caution against using a blender since blended foods still contain fiber which causes the digestive system to have to work just as it would if you were eating whole foods. A juicer will result in a product that is purely the juice of whatever you intend to consume.

You may wonder why the emphasis on making things easy for the digestive tract. When you give your digestive tract a break, your body is able to divert the energy it usually uses digesting your food into healing your body. The immune system also works hard trying to combat all the bacteria and toxins we take in through the food we eat. By eating less processed foods we also free up our immune systems to fight the diseases attacking our other organs and systems.

So, why should you try a liquid fasting diet? You should try it mainly because they are full of the vitamins and minerals the body needs to work properly. Juice is an excellent fuel for the body. Juices also help flush the body of toxins which can in turn leave you feeling and being healthier.

Drinking fresh juices can also help to boost the immune system, helping it to do an even better job of cleaning out poisons and repairing the body. Juice fasting can also help to remove excess fatty tissues which results in weight loss. Some have lost 20 - 100 pounds of excess fat while observing a liquid fasting diet.

How exactly do I go about a liquid fasting diet? First, you should decide how long you want to fast. Obviously, the longer you fast, the more toxins you will remove from your system and the more fat you will likely lose. A liquid fasting diet can last anywhere from three days to 40 days. Next, decide how much juice you will need to drink each day. This amount will depend on how much work you plan to do and how intense you wish your detoxification to be. The smaller the amount of juice you drink, the more intense your detox will be. However, you also need to take into consideration how much activity you will be doing and increase your juice intake accordingly.

The benefits of a liquid fasting diet well outweigh any discomfort you may feel while on the diet. You will experience increased vitality, cleansing from toxins and weight loss.

I'm doing in the process of a liquid fast. So far day 9. I been using the super greens like Macro greens 3x daily. I mix with half distilled water and 1/2 apple juice = 8 oz. I also add about a teaspon of blackstrap molasses unsuphured for energy has potassium and iron. So far so good. Feel pretty good. let me know if there is I can do to maximize weight loss. I plan to fast for at 40 days or more. Lots of weight to loose 120 lbs.

Instead of fasting to lose weight, which eventually you will most probably put back on, why dont you look at your life style. Eat healthy and exercise consistently. Check out Dr Robert Young for an extremely vitalising way of living..

I STARTED 4 DAYS AGO... USING THE MASTER CLEASE PROGRAM... ISNT WORKING OUT SO WELL FOR ME SO FAR... I CHEATED ON THE FIRST NIGHT WITH A HANDLE FULL OF BABY CARROTS... AND ON THE SECOND NIGHT WITH 4 BABY CARROTS... SO I CANT SAY I AM GOING A TRUE LIQUID FAST... TODAY THOUGH I CANT HELP BUT NOTICE THAT I AM HAVING LESS HUNGER PAINS... MAYBE TODAY I WILL ACTUALLY GET THROUGH THE WHOLE DAY WITHOUT CHEATING AT ALL... BUT IF NOT I CANT HELP BUT THINKING THAT EVEN A WHOLE HANDLE FULL OF BABY CARROTS IS STILL BETTER THEN WHAT I WAS CONSUMING ON A REGULAR DAY??? OR SHOULD I JUST GIVE UP ALL TOGETTER?

Fasts are great, especially for resting your digestive system, like the article says. One really really important thing people forget is to take a fat supplement like Udo's Perfect Blend or fish oil. This will protect your skin and hair, as well as help cleanse your digestive tract.

I have fasted many times before for cleansing (detox) lots of water, fruit juice in the morning because of sugar... vegies in the afternoon and night. Green tea. Acai suplement is high in antioxidant very good to help eliminate the impurities out of the body. Liquid fasting is great for the body, you not only give your body a break, it also cleanses all the organs and heals it. You will lose weight as well. If you are doing this to lose weight, you best start thinking of making changes in your eating habbits or you will gain back. Start thinking now if it's worthed to keep feeding your body all the crap you put in it just because it taste good. A healthy and balanced diet, will keep you happy, healthy, energized and younger. Finish your fasting and start everything new. You do not need processed food, fried food, pop, juices full of sugar you get from the store, donuts etc... It is all in your mind. You can program your mind to start liking other things. 20 years ago I used to drink coffee with lots of sugar and cream, today I drink with 1% milk and no sugar. I can't even stand the smell or tast of sugar and cream. You have to ask yourself this everytime you have cravings for something that its not good for your body. " Does my body needs this to function or does it want." If the answer is you want, then do not give it to your body. Be strong and control the wanting....Have a glass of water, some baby carrots, go for walk. Remember we eat to live, we don't live to eat. So, make changes for after the fasting. New healthy food, more exercising and all the things that makes you stressed out and sad, get rid of it.

Good luck to all

so i was thinking about starting this fasting. i read about it in the book "skinny bitch" which i read about 4 months ago. after reading this book i actually became a vegan but lately i have been straying away and currently am just a vegetarian. the book talks about healthy lifestyles and how its important to eat organic foods. however i am a freshman in college so its been hard to eat the organic but i was wondering if anyone thought it was ok to drink juice that is in a obttle like odwalla smoothies and juices because since i am in college i have no access to a juicer.

I have been trying to fast umsucessfully for about three months. For some reason I start the fast but never continue. I would like some advice on what to do to get back on the band wagon and stay motivated. I weigh 196 pounds and i'm 5'8 I would like to get back to my college weight of 175 or my high school weight of 165. My plan is to do a 30day juice fast only consuming clear juice products. Apple juice, cranberry juice, white grape juice, lemon juice, lemonade and all other clear liquid products my goal is to do this for 30 straight days. I plan to lose 25 pounds. I will do light exercise to stay toned but nothing to strenuous. If you have any suggestions or comments on my plan please let me know. After this fast I plan to transition into a healthy eating plan and include regualr exercise in my diet. This 30day diet is to jump start me on my personal journey to health heaven.

Thanks Good Lc

I've been on Optifast now for 14 days. Thats no food whatsoever. 5 meal replacement shakes and as much diet fluids as you like. I've cheated twice. Both times with a bowl of soup. I've lost 15 pounds and feel pretty good. This is a doctor supervised diet so you have to plan on spending a few bucks every week for the doctor and blood tests and the actual drinks. Figure about 50 bucks for the doctor and another 50 or so for the powder mixes. The blood is more but you dont have to take blood every week. I have a huge amount of weight to lose so naturally my initial weight loss would be significant if i keep to the outline of the fast. If you have minimal weight problems you can make this diet work really fast. If you're an active person this diet will take weight off extremely fast. 5 shakes a day will provide the body with all the vitamins and nutrients it needs. My doctor suggests at least 2 quarts of other liquids during the course of the day and more if possible. Like any other diet, if you go back to your poor eating habits when you're finished fasting the weight will come back. If you want to change your eating habits for life and take off excess weight its a great way to start. I'm at the beginning of my mission so i cant tell you about long term results but i can say what i've seen so far is good. It took about 9 days for my body to adjust to not eating all the crap i was putting in it. Everything seems to be better or properly now. I have a long way to go and i'll post from time to time to keep updated. Good luck to everyone that tries and be happy.

This is day one of seven, "hopefully" of my liquid fast. I am drinking water with lemon or lime, hot water with lemon or lime, hot water with parsely, sodium free chicken broth, low sodium V8, diet cranberry juice (contains 5 calories and no sugar), and up to two glasses of crystal light. I am doing the fast in conjunction with Hydroycut's seven day cleanse program. I will repost with my results. :O)

I'm 16 years old, 5'7", and weight 125 lbs. i want to lose 10-20 lbs for summer and i think this seems like a great way to do that! I have this hawiian passion fruit tea every morning for school and i was wondering if it is okay to put sugar in it? i'm going to drink that for breakfast and lots and lots of water all day. for lunch i'll have cranberry or apple juice because my school doesn't have very healthy choices at all sadly. for dinner i will do the same. does this sound okay? i will come back with results in a month or so. Thanks!

If you are really 5 ft7 and only 125 pounds, you do not need to loose weight. Youa re already at an almost unhealthy weight, to loose moore would only make you look skinny and unattractive. I am only 5 ft 4 and 130 lbs and I look great. Try excersising to tone instead of dieting.

i'm going on a fast for a diet program~ it's 6 days long, but it isn't just water, but a bunch of smoothies and aloe vera and chlorophyll pills to name a few ingridents~ i've read some of the side-effects on a water diet [e.g. bad breath, acne, odor, etc], will the same thing occur for me? will they be lessened?
