A number of shortwave radio broadcast stations exist in the USA, especially news and religious stations. These can be listened to domestically and around the world, using a shortwave radio receiver to tune them in. Here is a list of such stations in the USA, along with some details about each broadcaster...

KNLS: This station, part of World Christian Broadcasting, is based in the state of Alaska. It provides news, religious programs, music, and other informational programming. It broadcasts in the English, Chinese, and Russian languages.

KTBN: The Trinity Broadcasting Network's (TBN) shortwave transmitter is located in Utah. TBN also has a number of religious broadcast television stations; according to TBN.org, KTBN's programming schedule is much the same as that of its TV network.

RADIO MARTI: Based in southern Florida, this shortwave radio station attempts to broadcast anti-government programming into Cuba. However, its Spanish-language broadcasts frequently reach locations far to the north, including states like Maine and New Hampshire. According to wikipedia.org, Radio Marti is funded by the U.S. government.

VOICE OF AMERICA: VOA stations primarily broadcast news, but their website indicates that they also provide culture and education programs. Some of their programming is designed to assist in the learning of English. VOA broadcasts in a variety of other languages, including Russian, Swahili, French, and Chinese. They are operated by the U.S. federal government.

WBCQ: Located in the northern Maine town of Monticello, "The Planet" WBCQ offers a wide variety of programs on many different subjects, including shortwave radio itself, religion, music, and investing in gold. It tends to provide more entertaining broadcasts than most of the other USA-based shortwave stations.

WORLD HARVEST RADIO: Another network of religious stations, WHR has transmitters in South Carolina, Maine, and Hawaii. It mostly broadcasts news, music, and religious programs. One of its stations transmits BBC programming at times.

WWCR: World Wide Christian Radio is based in Nashville, Tennessee. It usually broadcasts religious and news programming. Their website provides a program schedule, list of stations, and other information.

WWRB: This shortwave station transmits from Tennessee as well, and originally used the call letters WGTG. With some exceptions, much of its programming is religion-oriented, including gospel music.

Some additional stations which aren't on this list also exist in the USA, most of them religious. Although many of these stations are based in the midwest or south, they can be received across the USA on almost any shortwave radio, because of their strong transmitter strength and the ability of shortwave broadcasts to travel long distances.

I wish there were some shortwave radio stations in the United States that wern't religeously oriented. We already have plenty of those and that's fine BUT we need some stations that focus on various styles of music (ranging from jazz to rock to various underground electronica). It would also be nice to hear regular dramatized serials that range from the classics of the 1950s (and back) and modern ones like "Mystery Theatre" and the newer "Twilight Zone" that's been adapted for radio.
