One of the biggest reasons consumers buy an iPod is to listen to it on the go, specifically in the car. Listening on the go does not have to be hard. However, finding the right solution for listening in the car can be frustrating. Depending on your car, where you live and even how much money you want to spend, you can find the appropriate solution for your music needs.

There are two relatively simple ways to listen to your iPod in your car: Either through a cassette adapter or via an FM transmitter. The cassette adapter is a tried and true method for listening to any type of MP3 player, CD player or iPod. The downside to a cassette adapter provides low audio playback quality in older cars and since most new cars only come with CD players, this sometimes just is not an option at all. An FM transmitter can combat the latter problem, but depending on the area, you may not be able to find a clear, unused station to transmit between the radio and the iPod. If this is the case, you have to look to advanced options for listening to your iPod in your car.

There is one more advanced ways to listen to your iPod in your car: Through an auxiliary port via your head unit. Doing it this way can come in a variety of ways. You can either connect it via a simple iPod adapter cable for your particular head unit. They also make simple audio cables to do this, or special iPod docks that hold your unit in place and you control it either by remote or through the iPod itself. These docks can be expensive, usually buying the cheap audio cable is the easiest advanced way to go.

There are many different types of ways to listen to music in the car, but finding the right solution can be hard. If at first you do not succeed, do not give up. The right way to go about listening to music on your iPod in your car can be found. You just have to try different options, try not to get frustrated and spend the money on the right way to go about enjoying your iPod on the go.
