Tough economic times call for tough measures, and just because you might not be able to afford your usual high-priced beauty products, does not mean you must result to ugliness. Behold! My new trend is DIY beauty remedies, and I, Lola, am here to share my favorites with you.

My first cheap, at home beauty product is egg yolk. One egg at the most costs about a quarter, and most of you probably have one downstairs in your refrigerator right now. Anyways, here is how egg yolk can help make you beautiful:

EGG YOLK FT.OLIVE OIL FOR SHINY HAIR:

1) Begin by cracking open one egg yolk into a mixing bowl. Beat the egg yolk quickly with a fork or whisk until it is completely broken up.

2) Add one tablespoon of olive oil. Beat again with the whisk or fork until it is well mixed. Baby oil can also be substituted for the olive oil for a better fragrance.

3) Mix in one cup of lukewarm water. Mixing the water in will dilute the mixture and make it easier to spread evenly throughout your whole head of hair.

4) Wet hair completely. It is best to apply the conditioning treatment to clean hair, so wash hair with a gentle shampoo, rinse and squeeze excess water from hair.

5) Pour half the egg yolk conditioner on top of the head, trying to avoid the face. While egg yolk is good for the face as well, the oil in the mixture is not. Use hands to apply the other half of the conditioner to the bottom of hair.

6) Run the conditioner through with your finger tips to ensure even coating. Let it set for 5 minutes.

7) Rinse your hair thoroughly with lukewarm or cool water. It is important not to use hot water because it may cook the egg yolk in your hair and require another washing. Cold water is good for hair because it makes it shiny.

Leave the olive oil and go back into your pantry, look for some brown sugar. These two make an amazing duo in the skin and lips department. Here is how:

OLIVE OIL AND BROWN SUGAR SCRUB:

- Take some brown sugar in a bowl.

- Add 1/4 cup of olive oil into it.

- Properly mix it together.

- Apply it all over your face and neck.

- Gently massage it and rinse it with clear water.

ยท I also like to massage the mixture on my lips to cure chapped lips!

This next facial mask really brightens, leaving a lustrous glow and clearer complexion.

ASPIRIN, HONEY AND WATER FACE MASK:

1) Get 3 tablets of NON-COATED aspirin. (Get non-coated and go for the
Walgreen's or Target brand because they will dissolve at a faster rate
than other brands)

2) Sprinkle drops of water on the aspirin. (Keep in mind that if you
use too much water, it will become too mushy and pretty much useless)

3) If you added the right amount of water, it should start to
disintegrate on its own. If it does not dissolve, use your fingers to break
it apart and mix it with the water.

4) Add 2 drops of Honey onto the aspirin. After wards, mix the mixture until the aspirin is coated with the honey.

5) Avoid the eye area, and spread the mixture all over your face. Leave on for ten minutes and wash off to reveal a pretty, glowing, you!
