Why diets don’t work, but hypnosis does!
The big problem with diets is that they may produce rapid weight loss, but are hard to stick too, and often do not supply all the things that the body needs to keep it healthy and functioning at it’s peak performance level.
There are many misconceptions and myths promulgated about losing weight. There are thousands of diets, hundreds of books, and dozens of late night infomercials’, all proclaiming to have the answer to easy, no effort diets and weight loss. There are so many at times it seems like everyone has their own idea of how to lose weight.
Most diets only work in the short term, mainly because they require lots of effort, denial of your favorite foods, taking pills, liquids and supplements, frankly for the rest of your life. Most give up after a short while, as they tire of the regimen required to keep the weight off. Some people are even diet junkies, going from one fad diet plan to the next, in search of that elusive miracle that will get the weight off, and keep it off, with no effort.
Permanent weight loss is not going to be found in a fad diet, it comes from a systematic approach to weight management. It’s true, you can eat most everything you want, you can get by with a minimal amount of exercise and you can make healthy choices to lose and keep your weight off.
The first step in a systematic way to manage weight is to understand first the many myths about weight loss and gain. The second is an understanding of why your body gains and losses weight. And, the third is a way to implement lifestyle changes that will last a lifetime, not for just a few days, weeks or months.
This is where hypnosis comes into weight loss. Most people have trouble developing the simple habits that lead to permanent lifestyle changes. Losing weight is much more about what you put in your brain, then in your stomach. Developing the skills of self-hypnosis as a reinforcement to those lifestyle changes allow your subconscious part of the brain to take over and make the healthy choices that you have trouble making consciously.
Here are a couple examples of what I mean.
One of the nice things about a systematic approach to weight management is that you don’t have to forgo your favorite foods, but you do have to use some sensible choices. You can have a piece of that favorite cake, the problem is you can’t have it everyday, you can’t a huge portion of it, you have to have a sensible size (you can eat most anything that will fit in your hand and is about the size of a pack of playing cards), now the conscious part of your brain, temps you into having much more then you should, it is the weakest part of your self-control. You may even verbally say something like “I shouldn’t, but, OK, just this time.” Next thing you know you have devoured a much larger portion then you ever dreamed of eating, even though you knew you should have that much. It often even causes anger and depression afterwards. However, with the use of hypnosis, your subconscious part of the brain, kicks in and gives you that extra little push to only have the portion that you really (and know) you should have had in the first place. Make sense?
The same happens with exercise. As simple as it sounds, a short and enjoyable thirty minute brisk walk most everyday is a good starting point to systematic weight management. Oh, sure there are hundreds of things that can and will come between you and that healthy walk. Consciously it is just too easy to say, “I’ll do an hour tomorrow, to make up for today.” Then tomorrow comes and something else interferes, as the old saying goes, the road is paved with good intentions.
Imagine however with hypnosis your subconscious mind kicking in and silently telling you each day, it’s time to go for that enjoyable walk.
Walking has other mental health benefits that go along with it as well as weight management. It gives you time to think, to create, to get away from distractions; it fills your body with oxygen, vital to good mental and psychical. After a short while you will find it disappointing when you do miss your walk, your subconscious may even inspire you to increase the walking time and start doing other excise routines.
