Nanny for the Kids, but I Take Care of the Cats

People with pets often times do love them like their own children. Especially couples who have no children of their own get pets to make do for children. Cats and dogs in particular make for the best of pets for most. If you have had a pet from a very long time it becomes like a family member and a very important one at that. And if your children are born later on then it is very likely that the pet is dearer to you than your own children.

Many people claim that they love their pets more than their spouses or their own children. Some find this to be very weird. If it comes to an absurd prejudice then of course it is weird. But if it is perfectly healthy and doesn't create any sort of troubles inside the family then it is just fine.

If the child finds his mother or father more attached to the family pet than to himself he might develop some sort of a complex which is neither healthy nor normal. You need to think about this before anything else.

Why do you think you love your pet more than your child? Is it because you feel that the pet is going to be more faithful or more dependent on you? That you have more control over the pet than you have on your child? If it is so then it is a complex of your mind and you need to consult a therapist for the benefit of you and your family.

But if it is just maternal or paternal love and that you feel that you love both your pet and your children equally and this is not creating any problem in your relationship with your children then it is perfectly ok.

Sometimes it is seen that parents' love for their pet makes the child love animals even better. But at other times children grow up to hate animals and other creatures as they grow up with some sort of grudge or resentment. It is important when you decide to start a family to make sure that you give your child the best and safest childhood that you can possibly give. So you need to consider these points and accordingly impart your love among your pets and among your children equally. It is more likely that you ought to love your children more than you love your pet of course.

Indeed you should love your pets very much as you have taken the responsibility of their lives and their well-being. Pets deserve to be loved and taken care of. But children also deserve the same. When you give birth to a child you also take in the responsibility to love that child more than anything else and make it feel all your love. The child should feel secure with his or her parents and you need to provide that security.

If you can not provide that then you should refrain from having a child at all. So before having a pet or a child think about the love and care that you will be able to impart to them and then, only then, go ahead to have one.

I love the cat species more than the human species. They are so beautiful, athletic, intuative, and sexy than anything in the world. I have never met a child that I could love more than a cat. The end. Kids are pissy little pooh machines!!!

What the hell is wrong with you people. Animals are great, but this insane. Your cats don't love you back that much. You need help.

I do not have kids but furry babies. When I think about it I am proud of my choice. Cats are toilet trained at just weeks old, they do not whine, do not need money for college and do not whine at toy stores!

Cats are fully capable of loving us back! I have quite a few cats in my life but one in particular is very special. We share a bond without a doubt. He is very much in tune with me...I call him my "kitty soul mate". Lol! He is the best cat that ever lived (in my biased opinion). He comforts me when I'm upset by washing the tears from my cheeks and he sleeps curled up next to me each night. I can't really put our relationship into words...I just know without a doubt that this cat loves me as much as I love him!

The more experience I have of other people's children, including nieces and nephews, the more grateful I am that I have decided not to have children. A big part of being comfortable with this decision is the love and companionship our cats provide me and my wife. We also refer to them as our "furry babies". It is quite remarkable how distinctive their personalities.

What upsets me are the people who dismiss the strength and importance of this bond and "feel sorry" for you for being childless. They don't understand that this is a conscious decision we made and that we are so much happier for it.
