The MacLaren F1 supercar is a car developed by British company McLaren Cars (belonging to the group next to McLaren Formula 1 team McLaren) by the designer Gordon Murray. Their first production was in 1994, built until 1998. He assembled 100 units: 64 units of street, 5 LM, and the remaining 2 GT GTR.

Aspirated gasoline engine has a 6.1-liter, 12 cylinder V 60 ° and four valves per cylinder, centrally located in rear longitudinal and developed by BMW. It delivers a huge power of 627 hp at 7400 rpm and maximum torque of 649.4 Nm at 4000 rpm. Its monocoque chassis is carbon fiber, and into many components is also used titanium, magnesium, gold, and kevlar. It weighs 1288 kg and accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.2 seconds.

At launch, the MacLaren F1 was the fastest production car. Its top speed of 386.4 km / h (240.1 mph) eclipsing the Jaguar XJ220, which until then holding that mark, and was surpassed in 2005 by the Koenigsegg CCR, and some months later by the Bugatti Veyron and the SSC Ultimate Aero.

Versions of competition participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Japanese Grand Touring Car Championship and the FIA GT Championship.

The MacLaren F1 is relatively small compared to other supercars. It has three seats: the driver is located at the center of the car, and the two companions are located on the sides and somewhat delayed.

The engine is cooled by an air intake on top and two side doors of the car that favored the engine breathing. In turn, the engine hood has a lining of gold foil to facilitate heat dissipation from engine bay. It is estimated that were used about 25 grams of gold in each of the units produced.
