The Richest Gangsta
In his native Columbia he was called Robin Hood because he built houses for the poor- the whole quarters.
Mad money in the mad world
Escobar was in the list of the richest people in the world according to the "Forbes" magazine. He had 500 thousand hectares of land, 40 rare automobiles in his garage. He created the biggest zoo, where he brought 120 antelopes, 30 buffaloes, 6 hippopotamuses, 3 elephants and 2 rhinoceros. As for his mad life of crime, he started it when he was a teenager, stealing and reselling gravestone monuments from the local cemetery, making fast and easy money. In 1976 he was caught at smuggling 39 kilos of cocaine. In the 1970s he took over the production of cocaine and made it a highly profitable business (annual turnover in the USA was $86 billion.). It was under his guidance when "mad money" flooded Columbia and half-forgotten country become known all over the world. He formed the famous "Cocaine cartel" that literally attacked the city, investing money in building housing estates for the poor, punctually paying taxes, helping the governor to build cheap underground for the working class. Thanks to that fact he was elected the member of the National Congress. When he bought his first house, he exclaimed: "I didn't know that the rich were so poor". But he was mad about the political power and the drug baron #1 was elected into the House of Representatives.
Death suits them.
When he was charged with accusations of drug dealing, he became illegal and began acts of terror against the Columbian state. For 2 years there were killed 520 police staff, and the total number of victims totaled thousand people. Among the potential victims of Escobar was the would be President of Columbia Andres Pastrana, who was kidnapped in 1988 during the election campaign of Bogotá mayor.
Villages on the wheels.
El Doctor was the man of mad imagination which was money-oriented.Very fast he built settlements on the wheels, bought submarines that he adjusted to the needs of drug trade and bought 727 planes from the Americans for delivering cocaine to the USA, earning money really fast. The plane landed, then took off, and the houses were brought and taken back. Every flight brought 15000kg of cocaine to the Americans and $250 million of fast money to Escobar. As for the submarine, it is just the scenario for the film. With the help of one person and the mafia of Saint Petersburg he orders the submarine for the transportation of drugs. He came across the corrupted military who offered him the commodity in Kronshtadt. The mad thumbs wanted to make fast money and demanded $20 mln., but the price was beaten down to $5,5 mln. It can be presented as a mad anecdote, but it is a well-known fact. The city for harem. At the end of the 1980s Escobar was most madly afraid of Los PEPES - the organization of people who suffered from Escobar. They made it a target to exterminate him. Escobar was afraid of them, of course, but he was leading a mad life full of enjoyment, having a legal wife and heirs. His fortune was estimated at the $10-12 bln. And, having such mad money, he acquired about 400 mistresses, who were in fact his concubines and build a small town for them. Every mistress had her own cottage with a swimming pool, different pergolas, fountains and other extravagances whose design was unique. There were black and white swans, naked dancers, who made a special caste in this region and who was entertaining the host with their exiting body movement.
Foundations of drug trade.
The cost price of a kilo of cocaine in those days was fluctuation from $4 to 5 thousand and in America one could get $60 thousand for it .No wonder that Pablo Ecobar started to look for contacts in the USA. At first small portions of cocaine were transported across the border in suitcases, petrol tanks, and even in car boots. Just imagine: 200 tons of this substance could make 2000 tons of cocaine and, consequently, to bring $1bln. 200 mln. of easy money! No comments, so to speak. Of course, there were some failures, but in any case, business brought fast money and remained profitable, bringing 1000 % of profit. And can you imagine that the Guinness book of records registered the amount of money that was offered for the head of Pablo Escobar - it was $10 mln.
Corporate revenge.
Terror was the answer of drug barons to the attempts of the authorities to give away the gangsters to the USA. The drug dealers had their own motto, which read:" Better a tomb in Columbia, then prison in the USA". But in 1990 the President of Columbia offered the drug dealers to surrender in exchange of the promise not to extradite them to the USA. The situation was very tense for Escobar. As a result or the operation 989 houses, 367 planes, 73 boats, 710 cars, 4,7 tons of cocaine, 1270 items of arms and the zoo, of course, were confiscated from Escobar. The confrontation between the authorities and drug barons turned into the mass homicide, 4000 of which were ordered by Escobar personally. But in 1991 El Doctor handed himself in the hands of justice. It was a mad decision, but he did it to save himself.
Prison mansion.
The surrended criminal with the tears in his eyes announced that his decision was grounded by the desire to bring good to Columbia and to be a loyal citizen. The president of Columbia announced the end of drug terror in the country. Ecobar had a little rest in the comfortable prison and, being afraid of extradition, he bribed the guards and escaped from the prison in July 1992.Every time he miraculously escaped from the pursuit but in the end he made a mad fatal mistake: at the end of 1993, when he was 44, on the 499 day of his search, he called his relations and was instantly tracked down. Pablo and his assistants were trying to escape on the roofs, but the sniper slew him down. It was rather inglorious for the national hero, but he didn't break his oath. That was the end of the terrorist, killer and one of the richest people on the planet. But as you can see - in Columbia there is no piece and quiet at all. The end of the baron There were about 20 000 Columbians at the funeral. Today the luxurious prison-shelter that Ecobar built for himself is looted, runways of his estate are overgrown with grass, the classical Rolls-Royces and Mercedes are becoming rusty in the garage, two hippos are still alive but are suffering from malnutrition. The widow and the children live in Argentina, his brother is in hospital and is almost blind from wounding - his enemies sent him a bomb-letter. At his funeral thousands of mad admirers were trying to touch the dead body of Pablo - the legend of Columbia. And his former assistant Alvaro Uribe is at the moment the president of Columbia.
