What is LCD?

The Magnavox TV features a LCD display, which is the liquid crystal display. This is the flatscreen panel technology which offers lower energy consumption than most of the Plasma TV's do. According to one source, a 42-inch LCD display consumes 203 watts on average compared to 271 watts consumed by a 42-inch plasma display. By getting a LCD TV you'll be doing your part to conserve energy while watching sparkling images on movies and television!

What are HDMI inputs?

HDMI stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface.  The LCD HDTV here has 2 of these inputs. This technology is basically a single cable which contains 19 wires inside it. It allows for the quicker transfer of audio and video data than ever before. Most of the latest technologies feature HDMI to make for a greater transfer rate of audio/video, hence more crisp images and sharper sounds. So what does this mean for you? It means easier hook-up of your various electronics gadgets and better sound and picture quality.

For example, you may currently have a DVD player or Xbox 360 hooked up to a TV using 3 cables; 2 for audio channels and 1 for the video picture. HDMI makes it a snap because you'll have all three within one single easy to use cable. You'll need a different HDMI cable for each device you plan to hook up, and this particular Magnavox TV has 2 inputs (for a DVD or Blu-Ray Player and your video game system, or camcorder for example).

What does Refurbished Mean?

When an item is stated as "refurbished" it usually indicates that some minor maintenance may have been performed on the product. This could include aesthetic (appearance) type work or mechanical work to make sure the TV set is operating properly. In many cases, these refurbished items were returned to the manufacturers so they could repair something minor, or because a customer didn't want it. In these cases, the manufacturer will fix and restore the product then certify the unit for sale at a discounted price.

It's illegal for a company to call a refurbished product new, when in fact it may be completely new with no repairs made. It may also have some cosmetic issues such as scratches or dents. Some refurbished models can perform great for years, while others may not last as long as you'd like. It's important to see if there's any sort of warranty that goes along with the particular product that might help you if the product fails.

The Magnavox TV may become sold out quickly, but there's plenty more great LCD HDTV's available at places like Amazon and the eBay online auction site!   Also, shop for accessories for your LCD HDTV including HDMI cable to hook up your DVD, Blu-ray player or video game system!
