Making Perfume At Home

You may be surprised to learn that perfume can be produced at home. Making perfume can be a very complicated process using rare and difficult to get hold of ingredients but if you want to have a go at making perfume there is no reason not to give it a go and you might be surprised how good your results turn out to be.

You can simply use typical kitchen utensils and equipment, nothing fancy or too technical required. You will need to get some basic ingredients but these are usually easily obtained and not too expensive.

The first thing to do is to decide on what type of fragrance you will make. Once you establish that you can start to get all the ingredients you need to make your own perfume at home. The ingredients needed will include some essential oils but apart from these you don't need much apart from a little water and some pure grain alcohol or vodka. These are the basic ingredients that are mostly used but you can adapt your own recipe and add further scents if you want to experiment.

Perfumes You Can Make At Home

The various different types of perfumes are cologne, Eau De Cologne and Eau de Toilette and the perfume you see in the stores is usually made from blended animal and vegetable oils which is a little more complicated but they do tend to maintain their fragrance longer.

The perfumes we can make at home are more basic and are made with plant oils. You should find these are inexpensive items and they will be available at a local store. Once we have collected all the ingredients together and prepared our equipment we are ready to get on and make our own perfume.

The most important ingredient we use will be the essential oil we chose for making the scent. The essential oil we choose decides what the scent will be like as the chemical make up of the oils are quite different. You might like to learn some of the terminology used to describe fragrances and scents. The term notes is used in perfume and these terms are used to describe the scent such as the bass note, top, middle and bridge notes.

There are plenty of books and other information about making perfume at home on the Internet. If you want to make things really easy you can buy kits that come complete with an instructional manual. Having a kit that is designed for beginners does help and since they don't cost a great deal it might be worth your while getting a kit for the first few attempts at making perfume at home.
