How to earn money through Internet advertisements

First of all, since I have been an internet user, I have always wanted to earn money through it. I didn't know how to do that just then. I came across a lot of website promising tremendous amount of income if you join them but you have to pay them first and they will just tell you to do this and do that. There were no real results that you can follow up and see how much you are really making. I have joined a lot of free websites which promise to give you income by just reading emails, visiting websites, testing products and all that. But all of them takes a long time before you can see the fruits of your labor. So I quit even before I started.
