After going through the long and painful phone questionaire, I find you do not have enough phone lines/staff to respond to my call. I followed the recommendation to use the web, and again, after filling in all of the forms, including selection a day for service, I am told that you are unable to complete the schedule. And you suggest calling the 1-800 number. What a joke. I thought Maytag had lots of staff just sitting around waiting for someone to call: or is that just "advertising"?
trying for 2days to reach you by phone & on internet. one reply tells me that my dishwasher is safe to use when by the model#MDB4199AWW serial #14282651YD according previous info it clearly is not to be used. I've been holding on the line for 15 minutes telling me to hold & am thoroughly disgusted.
We purchased a new Maytag dishwasher a number of years ago and went through hell trying to get the leaking unit either repaired or replaced. First I was told it was installed incorrectly. After it was reinstalled exactly how the @#$^&$ repairman said it was supposed to be – guess what - no difference with the leak problem! Several more unproductive visits ensued and the @#$^&$ repairman came to the conclusion that the problem was the result of us using too much soap with each wash cycle. The @#$^&$ repairman was asked to explain, in plain English, why the unit still continued to leak after a test run of a dozen back to back full wash cycles without any soap. Needless to say, he couldn’t. After a month or two of leaking, testing and continued frustration, they exchanged the unit and the problem was resolved.
A few uneventful years passed and we recently learned of a recall on this same unit. If not fixed, the washer could catch on fire and cause serious damage. I registered the unit online for the repair and was given a repair date of February 12, a contact for the Repair Company and a corresponding service tag number. I stayed home on the 12th anxiously awaiting the visit from our friendly Maytag repairman, keeping my fingers crossed that it would not be the same @#$^&$ repairman that was forced upon us a few years earlier.
Guess what! It was a no show. I contacted the local repair company and they didn’t know anything about the service call, other than they had similar irate people phoning in that were in the same predicament as myself. Contacting the 1-800 service number didn’t resolve the problem either. The service Center claimed that their online registration system was not working properly. The good news is that I am back on the repair list, they have promised to sent me a repair kit (that must arrive before repairs can be undertaken) and they have rebooked the repairs for March 2nd. It will be interesting to see what happens on that date.
The only good thing about this soap opera is that we have two Maytag appliances in our residence - the first and the last!they gave me a new one....... it was installed two days ago......
very nice.............
Maytag is NOT replacing these dishwashers! If you've never used the rinse aid dispenser & you're the original owner, you're sent a cap to render the dispenser inoperable. If you've ever used the rinse aid dispenser & you're the original owner or bought it second hand, you can get either a free in home repair consisting of replacing the door & wiring harness OR you can get a voucher for $75.00 cash back after purchasing a new Maytag, Jennaire or Whirlpool dishwasher of your choice. Most of the units being recalled were manufactured &/or sold between March 1994 - October 1995, so they're all older units.
The new dishwasher was installed and left a 1 inch strip in front where the tile was trimmed around the old kickplates. The new kickplates are flush with the cabinets. When questioned, the Maytag Store owner cursed me out and ordered me out of the store.
Have a big hearing problem on the telephone. Why don't you make some provision for rectifying this problem via internet?
It's solid excuses with CSR's who no absolutely nothing to help us. Please don't scream at the CSR's, they are front line personel who are taking the brunt of our frustrations for some bean counter and upper management decisions to screw us... the consumer.
I too am waiting for even more repair parts since the tech shorted out the switch in my unit while attempting to complete the intial repair. I am frustrated that nobody at Maytag has a damn clue on when if ever we will see the parts for these.
With all the service calls... this is a lengthy service call; plan 2+ hours of work, parts, and loss of customer goodwill, you would think Maytag would get a clue! They could have replaced these units with what it is costing them in parts & service alone.
The $70 voucher is a joke. Who wants to buy another product from a company that handles customer service like Maytag is currently with this mess? These dishwashers sold from $400 - $800 originally. Had they offered a more reasonable amount, say $200 - $400 based on each model, you can bet a more people would have taken that route and they would have saved a bundle of cash. Customer goodwill... it's gone forever baby! NO MORE MAYTAG, WHIRLPOOL, JENAIR FOR ME!
As a proactive consumer I followed my online registration of the now infamously recalled Maytag dishwasher with a call to Maytag's 800 number. CSR informed me that the Maytag web site did not place an order for parts for my unit for unexplained reasons. After placing the "order" she then informed me that all parts were on a backlog order in tow lists, one with more than 9,000 entries and another with more than 700 entries, further advising me that my order was no. 734, but that she could provide no ifnormation regarding a delivery date for said parts. After readiong the various horror stories about missed service calls, incomplete repair kits, 2 + hours of service work, an the utter frustration voiced by so many consumers, I don't have much hope that this appliance will be repaired in a timely manner. To the CEO of Maytag, your inept customer service and the subsequent the loss of goodwill should finally bury what once was a company known for quality and service. RIP.
My model and serial # probably qualifies but after reading the above comments, I decided to not even waste my time trying to go any further...I will use my dishwasher, hope for the best and buy another brand the next time. sorry.
Now six weeks into the waiting game with Maytag. Still waiting on the additional parts that need to be sent because the timer and sensor were shorted out during the intital repair which took 3 hours. CSR's at Maytag are worthless (not their faults... it's the bean counters in upper management). They might as well layoff everyone they have manning the phones and put a voice recorded statement that says...
Your
Six weeks in and still waiting for the additional parts needed to fix my unit. The timer and sensor were shorted out during the intial repair (which took 3 1/2 weeks to get parts and service appointment). Now once again, we wait and Maytag CSR's can tell us nothing as to delivery of parts. The intial call took 3 hours for the service, the parts etc. This alone has got to cost in the neighborhood of $400 for Maytag. By the time (if ever) I get the additional parts needed and have the service tech out, we're looking at minimum $200 additional costs to Maytag. Yet they offer a pittance of $75 voucher as a solution to their CUSTOMERS when you can't even get a dishwasher installed for that!!! WTF Maytag... You have lost more customer goodwill than you can even imagine.
As for using this unit and taking chances with a fire Sue [from previous post].... Is your home, family safety, worth that? Not mine. I will yank this piece of crap out which is what Maytag obviously hoped for all along and replace it with a BOSCH unit.
I held on your telephone line for a long long time - no music , no announcement no nothing. I cannot even determine if my diswasher is in the recalled bunch. What is wrong with you guys. At least have some way of contacting you on line - most people don't have time for this. Maytag does suck.
I contacted Maytag In early March, they ordered the part for the recall on March 11th. It's April 26th and still no part... I had a leak a year ago and took the door apart. I saw the Jetdry all aover the wires, so I cleaned it up and put it back together. I think I'll change the parts myself. People are talking about 3 hour service calls.... It's not rocket science. The repairmen must be milking the parent company. Maytag must be holding back on the parts to stagger the repair charges over a longer period of time so as to not hurt there rating. Either that or they are hoping thta you will get tired of waiting and buy a new one.... Don't be dumb buy another manufacturer.
Hey Bob,
It really took they service guy 3 hours to attempt the repair (and I still need additional parts). They send the entire interior door, a complete wiring harness with about 15 different wires that had to get spliced into the existing wires once the old were cut off.
I watched the service guy through most of the attempted repair and unless your good at wiring things and splicing in lines, this is not a do it yourself repair.
Tech is scheduled to be back out on my job next week now that the additional parts have arrived. Lets hope Maytag sent them the right parts to finally fix this disaster after seven weeks without a dishwasher.
No more MAYTAG, WHIRPOOL, JENAIR, ETC. FOR ME. The customer service at this company is the absolute worst. Rates right up their with Sony, Micrsoft and all the other fat cats who sell shit for products and don't support them.
I began the process Febr. 27th when I was told my dishwasher was affected. Waited 1 month, no repair parts. Called again - profuse apologies, etc. Waited another month, no repair parts but did receive letter with repairmen numbers. Upon calling yet again, found parts are on backorder but no estimated date for their availability. After 8 weeks of washing dishes by hand, I'm about to purchase a new dishwasher - but never again Maytag.
I would like to know if my dishwasher Model#DWU4910AAX, Seriel#A1302611KH is recalled. I have a kitchen full of Maytag appliances with which I have been very pleased. I am really taken aback by all of the problems listed above. I really hope that the high regard with which I have held Maytag has not been misplaced! Please let me know if I have a problem. Given the apparant problems in phoning, I'm not trying that.
Started this dishwasher recall hell in February. Received kit March 13 tech unable to finish job because parts are missing. Tech reordered kit March 13 (5) phone calls later still waiting..............lOTS OF PROMISES AND LIES......
I purchased a Maytag dishwasher 12 years ago and it has been the best investment I have ever made!!!! I would recommend buying Maytag, Jenn-Air, Amana, Whirlpool, or KitchenAid appliances to anyone. They are just the greatest. I think it is just the unlucky few who are trying to give the company a bad name, but the other 99.99% of the world couldn't be happier with the products in their homes. GO MAYTAG!!!!
And another thing......they have the best customer service reps I have ever worked with. They are so polite and very knowledgable. I couldn't imagine doing business with anyone else.
well eveyone can complain about maytag with the bad customer service but whirlpool bought out maytag last year.... so its whrilpools customer service now...and the csrs only have a limited amount of info to give....and for any one who runs out to buy ge just look at the recall they have 2.5 mill dishwashers with the same problem maybe its not the dishwasher but the rinse aid thats to blame... its eating the insides of your dishwasher and then if you think the repair is an easy fix its not because of the heat in your dishwasher the wires become brittle....
Dear Maytag sucks in SoCal,
From your web postings it looks as if you truely have nothing better to do all day then to look at this site all day long. It is not the fault of Maytag that the parts are on back order. There are 2.5 million dishwashers that are on recall. Where do you think the parts are coming from? They have to be manufactured. It takes time for the parts to be manufactured, packaged, and shipped. This is not including the time it takes for the servicer to come out to repair the appliace. This just goes to show that you are just some crazy psycho who has nothing better to do.
The tech came out approx 6 weeks ago, cut the wiring harness, took the parts off o the interior of the door and put in the new interior and walla, my dishwasher won't work at all now. I've called and called and NO ONE can tell me when to expect the new parts that the tech told us the day he ordered them that the parts were called in and would be expedited. Welllll, 6 wks later and my husband is becoming irate.
ge have the same dishwasher recall so it seems like it is not just a maytag problem but a problem with the design of the rinse aid cup holder
I have verified that my dishwasher is one being recalled. However, I can get no infor mation as to where to call for repair service. You 1-800 number starts very efficiently, but after gathering all pertinent information, disconnects the call, instead of letting you talk to a customer service rep.
I JUST RECEIVED MY LETTER TODAY ABOUT THIS RECALL!! GUESS WHAT I DID YESTERDAY, I PURCHASED SOME JET DRY FOR MY DISHWASHER FOR THE THIRD TIME SINCE I HAVE PURCHASED IT (1999) AND PUT IT IN LAST NIGHT AND HERE IS THIS RECALL LETTER THE NEXT AFTERNOON!! I CALLED RIGHT AWAY AND JUST LIKE WITH THE WASHING MACHINE RECALL I WAS TOLD TO CALL BACK IN AN HOUR DUE TO THE COMPUTERS BEING DOWN!!! SO HERE I GO AGAIN WITH GETTING MY APPLIANCE FIXED IT TAKES FOR EVER AS YOU ALREADY KNOW TO GET ANY KIND OF RESPONSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEREFORE I VOW TO NEVER EVER BUY ANOTHER MAYTAG APPLIANCE FOR MY HOUSE AND THERE $75.00 CREDIT TO ME IS WORTHLESS BECAUSE I WILL NOT BE BUYING ANY OF THERE APPLIANCES, THEY SHOULD GIVE ME THE CASH SO I CAN GO AND BUY WHAT I WANT!!!! I FEEL WE ALL SHOULD BE ABLE TO CHOOSE A DIFFERENT BRAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have this thir dishwaer purched thro the local dealer in sparta. I had full faith in them. but each one was replaced with lot extra money. this one is MDB5000AWW
and sereal 14610236sy. whenever i call operator (ELectronic) cannot understand me. live operator is busy. please tell how I do call them
never call on a monday, it is impossible to get through on a wednesday or thursday is usually a better time to call--good luck.
Thanks fyxer! great site & info
I too had the recall letter...called the 800 number....received terrible treatment by the rep after being on hold for about 15-30 minutes.....in total agreement with all the above complaints about poor customer service....and I don't understand the 2 bazaar letters commending Maytag...esp. the one about Maytag having good customer service.....have they really called this 800 number?
I called in March. I went online in March. I called in April. I called In May. I called in June. I called in July. I called in August. and you guessed it, I called in September.
I'm STILL waiting for my part. I'll be waiting for EVER.
Isn't it amazing that one company can cause so much grief. I will never ever ever purchase anything from this company again. Ever. Major frustration here. No one seems to care.
So after waiting for *ever*, I emailed my local newspaper and asked them for help. Within 12 hours, Maytag called me to offer me a new dishwasher. It's supposed to be installed next Friday!
Whadoyaknow!
great going sometimes you have to hold the giant by the tail, more light you shine on the situation always help

- Whirlpool Polara Refrigerated Range
This is a stove that has the capability to also be used as a refrigerator, this stove was introduced about 6 years ago. The idea behind this stove is that it gives the owner the options to take the chicken out of the refrigerator and place it into the oven where it can be kept cool for several hours. With the stove set to the cooling mode cooking can be set to start at a later time. 2 months ago
- Clothes Dryer
There are two types of clothes dryers one is gas the other is electric. The gas dryer is half gas and half electric, the gas is used for lighting a flame to create the heat to dry the clothes, the electric is used to operate the motor, timer, ignitor, coil kit and thermostats. 2 months ago
- Whirlpool Washing Machine - Don't Wash or Spin
Washing machines made by Whirlpool, Sears, Kenmore and Kitchen Aid, these newer machines are called direct drive, the older machines used a belt and motor to drive the transmission. These direct drive machines use a coupling to drive the gearcase, this coupling is connected to the motor and the gearcase, the couplings sometimes break. When this happens the machine will take in water and drain as this does not affect the pump, when the coupler breaks, the machine will not wash or spin because the motor is not connected to the gearcase, at the end of the cycle you will find that the clothes are wet but not washed. 2 months ago
- Gas Stoves
There are many different models and brand names but they all work basically the same, gas is connected to the stove and different components distribute the gas to different part of the stove. They are two major differences in lighting the stove automatically, one is with a glow bar, the other is with ignition, these components are both igniters the difference is one glows and draws a certain amount of current then it opens a valve that let the gas out to the oven burner then it lights the gas, if this igniter is defective it might glow but will not ... 2 months ago
