12 year old holds a Fundraiser for an Infant with Brain Cancer

Devin Frampton is a 12 year old boy who likes to play baseball and hang out with his friends. What sets Devin apart from other youngsters is that he held a community fundraiser for an infant with brain cancer. Devin saw a flyer about Maleah Randell and wanted to help her family even though he never met them. Maleah was only nine months old when she was diagnosed with brain cancer. At a year old she had already had two brain surgeries and was undergoing chemotherapy. Devin understood that Maleah's family was very worried about her because she had a very serious medical condition. He didn't want them to have to worry about the medical bills too. He thought the best way to help the Randells would be a fundraiser.

Prior to the big event Devin put jugs in restaurants and local businesses for people to donate their change. He and his mother also called local businesses asking for donations. They also went door to door hoping people would contribute money or donate items that could be used for the auction and raffle at the fundraiser.

Devin organized the entire day. The fundraiser was held at Hogan's Alley. It felt like a block party. Some of the children sold knickknacks and accessories. There was even a disc jockey blasting music. Devin watched as hundreds of people came to Federal Hill to eat, play games and buy raffle tickets. The fundraiser at Hogan's Alley was a huge success. As promised, the proceeds from the event went to the Randall family. Maleah's mother and Aunt couldn't even find the words to express how much they appreciated what Devin did for their family. He was a remarkable person.
