So I was hungry. All I had in the fridge was fresh salmon and I've run out of the udon that usually goes so well with it. I wasn't THAT hungry, so I decided to try something different. So in yet another attempt to learn to cook, I came up with microwave salmon!

This is probably the easiest of my salmon recipes. Perfect for a midnight snack!

Ingredients

  • Salmon fillets
  • Your favourite soya sauce
  • Half a lime

Instructions

  1. As per usual, take the salmon fillets out of the fridge and let them reach room temperature. Should take 5-10 minutes depending on your climate.
  2. Take your favourite soya sauce and drench the salmon fillets.
  3. Squeeze half a lime onto the salmon fillets for good measure
  4. Now you could leave them to marinate for a bit, but since this is a quick recipe, you can skip the process.
  5. Place the salmon fillets onto a microwave-safe container/plate/bowl, skin-side up and insert it into the microwave, and turn it on.
  6. Depending on your microwave and the power setting, cooking times may vary. For me, it took about 3 minutes. You'll know it's ready when you see the soya sauce and lime juice mixture start to crackle and pop.
  7. Turn off the microwave. Check to see whether the salmon is cooked well enough to your liking. And there you have it: microwave salmon!

Notes

  • The freshness and quality of salmon you use is important. Over here in London, I tend to prefer Waitrose's over Tesco's selections.
  • My favourite soya sauce also comes from Waitrose. It's called "A Dash of Japanese Soya Sauce".
  • If you enjoyed microwave salmon, you'll also probably like to try another salmon recipe of mine!
