World War One was believed to be the war that would end all wars, so terrible were the casualties suffered by people all over the world. But just over 2 decades later World War two began.

This hubpage is not a detailed look at the causes or the actual history of World War One, rather I am sharing a hobby I had for a long time, Model building , with particular reference to model weapons.

Ideally, there would be no weapons in this world, but It appears unlikely that this will come about though purely human agencies or treaties. There will always be a human predator out there, that predator will force their more peace loving brethren to defend themselves. It would be either that or surrender. And as we all know now, surrender to predators is rarely a recipe for peace.

The majority of the world war one era models now available commercially, are Fighter Aircraft. The reason is simple. Fighter Planes are the most attractive of combat weapons. Plus, its easy to assume that Air combat is more Skill full form of combat, closer to the jousting of Armour knights of the medieval era.

Every air combat account I have read suggests that this was and remains a remarkably effective use of combat reasources, but dangerous as well. In World war one, the Pilots had no parachutes, Balloon Observers had parachutes, and eventually, all combat aviators everywhere demanded and received them.
