A Funny Story From a Funny Mom
56What a Gas!
This story took place when I was in labor with Molly, now 10. I will never forget this. I was in hard labor, and had to push very bad. I was so scared, because I felt like I had to poop, and of course I didn't want to do that, with a doctor, a nurse, and 2 medical students staring at my privates. It hurt really bad of course, and the urge to push was unbearable. The doctor told me to push, and I finally said, "I feel like I am going to have a bowel movement." He said, "great, just do it!" Can you imagine 4 people watching you poop on a table? Well, for your information, I didn't poop, but I let out 4 huge farts! I just closed my eyes and let go. I had no choice. I could have died right there on the table.
What a wonderful birth story to share with her! When the nurse was stitching me up, I felt like I had to say something. I said, "nothing wrong with passing a little gas." She didn't say anything. Come on. She could have laughed a little bit or something. My husband, Brad, tried to make me feel better and said, "I didn't hear anything." The people in the next room had to have heard me. Fun stuff.
