This Hub Page is to provide you with an easy to follow recipe to create your own money generating profitable web pages using… Hub Pages! It will cover the basics of creating websites as a source of revenue, and offer you a step-by-step tutorial for beginners on doing so with Hub Pages.

The Essence of the tutorial is this –

  1. Create a Google Adsense account and link it to your Hub Pages.
  2. Sign up for Hub Pages and create your own account.
  3. Optional - Create an affiliate account with Amazon and Ebay and update your settings accordingly in your Hub Pages Account Page.
  4. Now, find a topic that you know something about and create a hub page about it.
  5. Promote your Hub Page anywhere you can
  6. For the last three steps – lather, rinse and repeat. The more Hub Pages you make, the higher your revenue!

There is a learning curve here! But it's not as steep as with creating your own web pages on your own domain names. You have Hub Pages here to get you through many hurdles and you have zero investment in this.

Introduction

I am so excited by the Hub Pages concept! I have been a webmaster for several years now, and I run my own home business doing something very similar. I produce content websites and collect money from ads and affiliations. It's a great way for me to make money doing something I really enjoy. It did not get me rich. In fact, it has taken me several years to get to the point where I'm at today (making a decent enough income to support my family with). At the same time, working from home on my websites allowed me the flexibility needed to raise my family, take care of my home and balance my life according to my own needs and wants at any point in time.

I have been asked for advice so many times before, by people who are looking to do something similar. "So, you work from home and make money on the internet? How can I do that too?"

Well, it really isn't that complicated. Not if you know how to find a topic to write about, get your own domain name, find the right hosting solution, design, create and upload web pages and promote them. And this doesn't even begin to cover the money-making aspects of it all. See, whenever I began explaining things to someone who is not a web publisher, I found out just what a learning curve I had already gone through...

I really wanted to help people, but it was a daunting task. I even bought a domain and began building a website just about that, a guide for beginners on how to start your own web publishing business. I called it Site Nursery and it is still awaiting development among my numerous projects ;)

Well, now that you have Hub Pages here, I think it's just so much easier for beginners to... well, to begin! You can set up a complete home business revolving around creating hub pages. Sounds farfetched? It really isn't. The plan is outlines here at the top of this hub page. I am going to share the more detailed version with you now. Consider this a step by step tutorial for you to jumpstart a small work-from-home business with zero investment. You have nothing to lose and quite a bit to profit.

Important Disclaimer – This is not a get-rich-quick plan! It will take time and dedication. It won't get you insanely rich either. But, if you stick to it, you are more than likely to be making a nice additional income within a few weeks time. What's more, you'll be doing this in your free time, with zero investment, and with a nice stream of residual income as well. Also, this can be just the beginning. If you'll find that web publishing is your thing, you can then expand and learn how to use other platforms to create money generating sites with.

Ready? Good. Let's break the above outline into detailed guides. Most of them will be here in this hub page. In the future I may add links going to more detailed explanations elsewhere, perhaps on one of my blogs. So, here we go… let's dive right in…

Step 1: Create a Google Adsense account and link it to your Hub Pages

What is Google Adsense? Google Adsense is Google's network of paid advertisements.

In a nutshell: a piece of code is planted in your page, which lets Google deliver text ads which are related to the topic of your page. Whenever a user clicks on your ad, you get paid.

How much, depends on the topic and on how much advertisers are willing to pay for having their ads displayed within that context. One very important thing – never ever be tempted to click your own ads or have anyone you know click on them for extra revenue. Adsense has a way of filtering fraud on the system and they will kick you out, no questions asked, forever.

The easiest way for you to sign up for your own Google Adsense account is to visit Google Adsense. Actually, you don't have to do that now - you can also sign up for Hub Pages first, and then sign up for your Google Adsense account from there (you will be asked during sign up if you want ot get your Google Adsense account).

You will have to provide them with your full details so that you can receive checks from them. This is the number one online advertising network, so you should have no privacy concerns here. These guys know what they're doing.

Step 2: Sign up for Hub Pages and create your own account

This one is easy! Just Click here for your Hub Pages Account and it will take you through the Hub Pages tour and let you create your own account. It's all very well annotated, so you're guaranteed not to get lost on the way ;)

After you choose your username and password, you will be asked whether or not you already have a Google Adsense account. See, if you followed step 1, then you do! If not, no problem, just check the box to get your own Google Account now.

If you already have an adsense account, you will be asked for a few details to identify your Adsense account with. Those would be your email address, your zip code and the last 5 digits of your phone number. After you fill this in, you will also get an email from Google Adsense telling you that Hub Pages is asking for permission to access your Adsense account. Follow the instructions in that email so that Hub Pages can grab your Adsense code for you and place it on your Hub Pages!

Step 3 – Create Affiliation Accounts with Amazon and Ebay (optional!)

Once you have your Hub Pages account set up, you can visit your account setting page and add affiliations to ebay and amazon as well. You will find instructions and links to that on the page there. These affiliations don't generate as much money as Adsense, but once you get enough traffic to your Hub Pages, you may wish to do that as well. There's no rush at the beginning. Again, once you create an affiliation, all you need to do is provide Hub Pages with your affiliate ID. They place the ads for you!

Step 4 – Write a Hub Page!

Here comes the fun part! Find a topic you are familiar with, or research a topic to become familiar with it, and write a short article about it. Be creative. Browse Hub Pages to see what others are writing about and what style they are using. Browse the Idea Bank that Hub Pages offers you and use the ideas found there for your Hubs.

Money making tips: Find a topic where advertisers are willing to pay high dollars for their ad to be placed on your pages. Such topics would be for examples financial topics (loans, insurance etc), or medical topics. Go for something unique, where there is less competition, but not too obscure, so that you have enough of a readership.

Step 5 - Promote your Hub Page

You can start with emailing your friends and family and asking them to tell their friends and family too. Whatever you do, never spam anyone with your page! Make sure that you are writing personal emails to people you actually know. Next, go and add your site to your signatures in various forums and online communities where you are a member. Again, do not spam – make sure that having this in your signature is allowed in that forum and stick to general netiquette there. You can also try exchanging links with other owners of websites on the same topic, though many might be less than enthusiastic to exchange a link with your free-hosted page.

Don't forget Hub Pages itself. You will be getting some traffic from being listed as one of the available hub pages in their directory, which is granted to bring in some traffic down the road. If Hub Pages surfers like your page, it will go up in the rankings and gain even more traffic.

The nice thing about your Hub Page is that it comes optimized for the search engines. Hub Pages do quite well in Google!

My best tip for getting traffic from your Hub page is this –

Write a very interesting Hub page. Think what might interest people and try to provide them with something they actually value. If you manage to create a unique and useful hub page, you are more likely to be linked to and to have people spread the word about your page.

Take this page here for example. Have you found it useful? Please vote for it! Think that maybe someone you know might benefit from building their own Hub Pages money generating empire? Please send them a link to this page and send them over!

Last Step – Lather, rinse and repeat

Well, now that you know how to do it, you need to actually do it. And then do it again. And again, and again, and again. You get the picture – lather, rinse and repeat. The more Hub Pages you make, the higher your revenue! People will find your wonderful hub pages and flock in to read your words. Some of them might see a relevant ad next to the page and click it. You get money. Only a few cents at a time (well depending on the topic, it could be even a few bucks), but it all adds up. One Hub Page can make you maybe just $5 a month. Now, how about 100 hub pages? Or 200 pages? See where this is going?

I will keep adding articles here, some of them about how to squeeze even more money out of your Hub Pages. Others will deal with other ways of making money from working at home. I will also develop some of the themes mentioned in this page. However, you have the basics now. Go ahead, follow this easy plan and do leave me comments to let me know how you're doing!

Weblearner, I joined two days because of you. I never knew this sort of thing exsisted. Now is there a difference between clicking "Create your own" button or requesting a hub from you? Not sure if you recieved credit when I created my own hub. Please let me know if there is a difference for getting credit if you choose one way over the other to create a hub from the person who invited you. Thank you for the invite. You article was very helpful. That's why I ended up here. Again Thanks!

You should link your hub page to article directories such as americanarticles.com, ezinearticles or searchwarp.com for example.

It's a good hub - BUT

Don't you have #1 and #2 mixed up?

How can you link google adsense to your hubpages when you have not created a hubpages account yet???

It can't work that way...can it? How's that possible if you try to link to something that doesn't yet exist? I mean sure, you could link it to hubpages.com but that doesn't do you any good.
