The Motorola W230 is a slim phone, its just 110 x 45 x 14.7 mm in size and only weighs 80 grams. Because of its slim size and light weight, the phone is very easy to hold and keep in your pocket. It also feels a bit fragile as it's too light, but you'll get used to it fast. The casing design isn't something you see everyday. It's a solid bar design but a little distorted to add more style! The details on the phone looks totally cool. The user interface and the wallpapers perfectly match the casing color theme. It has the standard Motorola look even though it's a solid bar type of phone.

The phone has a bright, quite small in 1.6 Inch CSTN 65k Color Screen in 128 x 128 pixels resolution. The screen displays clear and colorful pictures. Videos are clear to see. You can see cool animation executed smoothly as you browse through the menus. It's pretty small but it's enough to be usable.

The W230 has good multimedia capabilities. Although not that great but enough to keep you from being bored. It is able to play various music files commonly used in mobile phones, such as iMelody, MIDI, MP3 and AMR . The phone the basic SMS (Text Messaging), MMS (Multimedia Messaging) and even EMS (Enhanced Messaging), this just proves that the Motorola has no problems in receiving and sending messages. Sadly, it doesn't have a predictive text functionality but don't worry, you won't have any trouble texting with the W230 as it has nice keypads. The keypads are ergonomic, intuitive and responsive, it even looks good. When calling the phone uses Dual Band Technology, this is a low end network capability but it won't pose a problem if you're in the UK or USA as these places use GSM 900 and GSM 1800 frequencies. The phone has a CrystalTalk Technology which allows you to have good calling experience as you will hear your friends. Frequencies which automatically switches so you won't have any problem with the signal. The phone is of course a non-3G, so video calls are out of the picture.
