Saw 4, 5, And 6 ?
Lionsgate sniffs out a good franchise. They are currently planing on producing a total of 6 Saw films (for now).
I don't know if this is going into Nightmare On Elm Street land, or Friday the 13'th country, but I am throwing up my red flag. I really did not think going over 3 sequels is a good idea for any film.
Part four wasn't so bad though, even if it was written by the boys who wrote Feast (from project greenlight), a film that could not come up with names for their characters. I still think a 5th and 6th chapter is not, as history has shown, a very good idea.
Maybe I've been burned too much in the past. I'm willing to accept I may be paranoid, but in film there is something I never could stomach... different directors, and writers being brought in every year to shoot someone else's film, and doing a crappy ass job. Hell now they hire people for the job that don't even write or direct horror.
We've seen it before in remake land, where some idiot thinks he can some how write or direct Halloween or The Fog better than John carpenter, and Hellraiser better than Clive Barker. The studios want fast cash off an audience in the dark that Sometimes They Come Back Again was not written by Steven King, wishing they are dumb enough to rent the DVD or turn to it on cable (yes they get paid very well every time you do that, which prompts them to make another, and another).
So okay I'll cross my fingers and toes that Saw 5 & 6 don't suck. For now at least the same actor that plays Jigsaw signed a contract to do up to 6, I say up to because if your willing to shoot six films you'll do ten.
Don't get your hopes up on writers and directors until the ink dries on the contract. They've been replaced in the middle of pre-production and production, the worst case being the last two Exorcist films where the director was kicked to the curb after the movie was already shot, then replaced with a new guy who was told to shoot the movie all over again.
So lets all have a drink and pray for the writers coming off strike and producers being smart.

I personally think that the SAW films have been the best series out and they do get better. Sorry to disappoint you, but there are going to be SEVEN parts before eevrything will be finished, and when it's all finished it will all make sense, and it should be very interesting. It's really fascinating to watch how JIGSAW is able to manipulate his victims and how he's always abe to stay one step ahead of every one.
