My best friend's wedding in camotes island

It was my second time to visit Camotes Island, and this time it was for my best friend's wedding. I may say one of the most beautiful places in the Philippines. It is one of the most cheapest, cleanest, and safest in the country.

The day was almost perfect. A day your best friend got married and attending it; Being with your friends on a beautiful island paradise; your first-year anniversary with your girlfriend (imagine on that same day, a coincidence); all except for this, she is not with you on that day (because she needs to attend to something more important which is totally ok for me). I could have enjoyed it even more. But anyhow I planned to come back to this amazing beautiful place with my girlfriend (probably as a wife, God willing) one day.

There are certain things I find Camotes island fascinating to go:

  1. You can find beautiful white sand beaches in a lesser price. Almost all if not all beaches in the island are white sand mixed with corals. The grain of the sand is as fine as sugar. And it is not expensive to be in these beaches. Just Imagine we went to Bakhaw Beach and payed only P15 ($0.34) just for the maintenance of the beach. That cheap.

  1. The resorts are beautiful and less expensive. You can't find tall buildings in Camotes island or high-rising hotels, but beautifully constructed resorts. Many of which are built on top of rocks (made of corals I guess) overlooking the sea. It gives a different feel and ambiance. Many of these resorts are cheap. You can get as low as P1500 ($35) good for two persons. You can even find cheaper resorts or inns if you know where. Of course it has air cons, and cable TVs already. This is very ideal for group of friends looking for a different tripping with nature, or families, or couples (lovers who likes to be romantic), or just somebody who wants to get away with the busy city life. There are no discos on these resorts or active nightlife like some of the other tourist spots (though there are some which have karaoke's), with this it makes the camotes' island resorts different. It is a paradise

  1. Caves. Boracay and Bohol have caves (I've been on both places). But I find the Caves in Camotes island unique. One of the caves called "Sonog Timobo cave". This cave has an underground pool of water; it is neither the deepest nor the widest, but it does not stink and most off all, even small children can come and enjoy the education of being in the cave and bathing in the water. It is very accessible to everybody. The Bukilat Cave is a different story. It is more challenging than the other cave which is for the more adventurous people.

  1. Lake. Camotes island has a lake called "Danao". They offer boat rides on the lake. It is ideal for everybody who wants to go to a lake. The Boat ride is for everybody (including children) since the type of boat is like a floating cottage with table and long benches. They also have a speed boat. For the more active individuals.

  1. Rural ambiance. Camotes island life is laid-back (for local people). You could go hiking or biking in the asphalt roads and cemented streets. It would be a different experience if you are used to the more active, noisy, busy city life. Of course there are jeeps, cars, and trucks there but not that much compared with other places. You can even rent a motorcycle for P500 ($11) for one whole day. That if you wish you (and your love one) to go to places or tries to circle the whole island.

  1. Good place for Scuba diving. The island is basically made of corals. So you can imagine the reefs underneath the sea. There are so many places in the island which are marine sanctuaries (these are areas which are abundant in coral reefs and marine life which is restricted by the government for fishing and getting anything f from it, like corals or plants). This means an abundant of sea creatures and beauties.

In Camotes island, I had such a wonderful time and I will promote this place to whoever loves nature-tripping.Indeed it is an island paradise.
