My first SLR
59Walking out of the photographic shop that Saturday, Friday seemed a long way away.
Yet there was a feeling of satisfaction driving down the M3, with something to look forward to.
When Friday arrived I was hoping I got a job somewhere close to Basingstoke, but that never happened.
A smile came to my face on Saturday morning, my first job was in Winchester, M3 here I come.
After completing the job I headed for Basingstoke to pick up my first SLR camera.
I also bought some films and a flash gun, so I had all the basic necessities.
A Pentax K2 with a standard 52mm lens, flash gun and film.
When I got home, I loaded the camera and spent quite a while focusing on different objects in the room.
Putting down the camera from time to time only to read the manuals.
Saturday night came and I'm on call throughout that weekend.
I knew where to find subjects to photograph, but I have to forget about the dance hall tonight.
I'll have to wait another week before I can put all I've read to the test.
I came from the dance hall and as far as I am concerned that's where I was going to go.
Well that was a strange thought, what a turn around after spending years on stage.
It's not cameras been pointed at me, I was going to be the one pointing the camera.
Ah well I had a week to practice on grip and focusing with my new toy.
