Mygreatest loss so far.........
54My greatest loss so far involved love, money, and material things. Yes, divorce! It's one thing to lose material things such as a car or a house, but on top of that to have to deal with losing someone you've shared your life with for the past 10 years, it's like the icing on the cake. It took me about a year and a half to get over it, or so I like to think.
In the beginning, my divorce was something I dealt with on a day to day basis. Yes, it was heartbreaking, but sure enough I got through the tough times with the support and advice from family and good friends. Five years later I can say I'm definitely better off without him in my life. I've become more independent, confident, and I love the freedom of spending time on my own terms. So yes, it was a painful experience, but one I definitely came to terms with. I am not bitter, I do not play blame games, and I do not go around saying nasty things about his second wife. This has nothing to do with being a sucker, it has to do with me being able to respect myself at the end of the day.
