-My Adsense Report - Unlocking The Secrets Of Adsense - Week 4-

My article titled: America's 50 State License Plates: Beautiful & Colorful (with mottos and pictures) has been primarily the test article for Experiment 2:

Search engine search words: Americas 50 state license plates

Ranked on page 1 as #6 of about 2,020,000 pages (WEEK 3)

Ranked on page 1 as #6 of about 301,000 pages (WEEK 4)

Comparing Week 3 to Week 4 opens one obvious question and another question regarding actual click-throughs. My first question is why the drop in the number of pages from 2,020,000 in Week 3 down to 301,000 pages in Week 4?

My second question is why my click-throughs were ok in Week 3, and virtually nothing in Week 4. Additionally the "page impressions" dropped a lot between the two weeks.

A second set of search words were used for the above article (Experiment 2) and here are those results:

Search Engine search words: America state license plates

Ranked on page 1 as #4 of 15,500,000 pages (Week 3)

Ranked on page 1 as #6 of 13,800,000 pages (Week 4)

The result between Weeks 3 and 4 hold my same questions as above. Hopefully, one of our readers might be able to offer some insight into why this occurred, and if not, I'll keep looking for an answer, and when I find out I'll let everyone know.

I decided to let Experiment 2 keep rolling for awhile and continue to do some tweaks here and there using some of my new found tools, as, well as promoting my articles using InfoPirate, OnlyWire, HubPages, MySpace and Xomba. I wish I could include Twitter, however they have suspended my account, but, if your account is still working, use it!

I've always hated bookmarking because of its time-consumption. Recently I found a link to "Only Wire." I looked at it for a couple of weeks before diving in. And it's very fast and it has the ability to bookmark a lot of bookmarking sites at one time. REALLY!

Here's the link to OnlyWire: http://www.onlywire.com

As Experiment 2 continues I am going to spend this coming week tweaking all my remaining articles on Hub Pages and Xomba, and adding what I don't have on HubPages posted there. Next week, Week 5 we'll do an update on Experiment 2. Hopefully I'll have some type of realistic layout on tracking spreadsheets, and I'll be able to display them to show you what I'm doing or trying to do.

Spreadsheets give a whole lot better picture of things than just using text.

Again, if there are any questions please do leave comment with the question, or I can be contacted using contact forms on Xomba and HubPages. For those who are my buddies you all have my Portland State University email address - you can write to me there too. I will work hard to find you an answer or, at least, some place to find an answer, hopefully.

So, far, in my search to figure out Adsense mechanics I've ended up with more questions than answers.

And, so, I continue to dig looking for the Adsense treasure. I certainly thank everyone for your continued readership and support. I've never done well working on things alone, so, all of you have enabled me to do better...

ADSENSE 101 - Simple Basics for Beginners

I found this good, short, basic Adsense beginner article posted at Xomba.com. It was posted and written by Xomba member Chris Crow on December 10, 2007. “Get your shoes off, its time (for those brand new to Adsense) to get your feet wet..."

Xomba member “rawnak “ is celebrating her second year on Xomba. Congratulations Rawnak! Unlike so many pieces we read which make the big announcement and then tell us all how profitable Xomba, Hub Pages, and/or another site(s) have been, but, give little or no details, Rawnak has taken the extra effort to share with us all how her successes were won. I have not seen many articles which give the personal details of the accomplishments themselves.

I certainly believe we can all gain some insight into what it takes to unlock the Adsense treasures and the workings of Adsense Mechanics. I read, and recommend reading her anniversary-post. (Happy Anniversary Rawnak!)

-FutureWeeks: Needed Software-

Down the road we're going to get into tracking using “spreadsheets.” If you have a program that offers spreadsheets, such, as, the Microsoft Office Suite, you are ready-to-go.

But, if you don't happen to have such a program, you're in luck. The “Open Office Suite,” is just as good, if not better than the Microsoft Office Suite, and BEST OF ALL,” It's FREE to DOWNLOAD!!

OPEN OFFICE FREE DOWNLOAD (2 Selections)

-FINDS-

In my endless weekly searches to attempt to find useful information for myself and present the same as information/help for my readers in this weekly series, this past week I found some tools, some I know will be of use, and some, I haven't figured out how to completely understand them.

----Keywords & SEO:

I found an article on Hub Pages about “how to optimize sites/pages rank in search engines in four easy steps.” To quote this Hub Page writer from the article (HUB) itself gives the best description of what's contained inside: “This hub will take you through the step-by-step process of selecting keywords, analyzing competition, optimizing your content and last but not least building up a network of In-bound links. I hope you find this useful - I am pretty sure you will.“ [end quote] by HubPages author “gaming-guru”

Here is the link to his well-explained article:

----Tools:

Here's one I haven't worked with yet, but, I believe it to be, possibly, one of the keys to the "treasure box," the Adsense treasure box...!

Google's PageRank - Calculator: http://www.webworkshop.net/pagerank_calculator.php

Wordtracker is a site which offer services for a fee, but, they do offer a free keyword suggestion tool. It never hurts to have more than one place to find keywords. Again, there is no endorsement, on my part, of any product being sold.

Here's the link for Word Tracker,

FREE keyword suggestion tool: http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/

The Keyword Density Tool I found through a link on InforPirate. The link takes you to the website of a company called “We Build Web Pages.” Everything, other than the presented Density Tool has a price tag attached to it. I am not endorsing the purchase of anything, but, to use their Keyword Density Tool the cost is ZERO. I am not sure exactly what its results present, but, it appears to be a tool-of-use.

If you decide to try this tool out. There are several check-boxes and self-explanatory settings. When you put your setting in and decide what boxes you wish to check, along with your page URL, and click “SUBMIT,” you will notice when the results come up that the settings appear as they did before you made changes - like default settings. My first impression was that the tool did not accept the settings I wanted.

After playing with it a few times I realized the tool does accept whatever settings you apply to it, but, it automatically resets itself at the same time it displays your requested results. (I hope this made sense?)

And, finally, the link to the all familiar Adsense Keyword/Phrase Generator Google Adsense Keyword Tool: http://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Page Ranking Flow Charts by Xomba member “ngureco” and posted on May 7, 2008, for me, is going to take some more reading and then "charting". I haven't quite figured it out, but, plan to spend some time this coming week to, at, least, by next week, see it on a spreadsheet.** You'll like spreadsheets. I think they're a lot like pictures. One of either is worth a thousand words.
