Namitha was Born and raised in Kurichi, Real name Namita M Vankawala, studied at Ratnam Arts College, Surat. Punjabi-speaking Namitha is another actress in the long list of heroines who made it in Telugu and Tamil movies. Her father is a businessman and her mother is a housewife. She became popular after acting in the Tamil film Engal Anna with Vijayakanth. After being crowned Miss Surat in 1998, she participated in the Miss India contest in 2001. she also won people's favourite award to win miss india world title.It brought Namitha roles in the Telugu film industry. After entering Tollywood, she immediately grabbed the attention of Telugu film lovers with Sontham and acted in Gemini as Bhairavi though the films didn’t fare well in the box office.
