If you've ever undertaken a diet, no doubt you would have experienced frustration, disappointment, and/or totally gave up at some point. In fact, a rarely cited, but true statistic is that 95% of those who go on a diet, will gain it all back again plus more. In other words, 95% of diets fail! Source of information, Dr. Albert Stunkard, researcher at the University of Pennsylvania.

This is why the weight loss industry is worth $315 billion a year. If diets worked, then there would be very little money left on the table for manufacturers of diet pills, weight loss experts, publishers and diet regimes. Consumers flock to try out the lose-weight-fast kind of diets, pills and surgery because they have become so impatient with losing weight, or they want to believe that there is a foolproof way to lose weight without putting in a little extra effort.

So if diets do no good, then what can we do to lose weight? It's as simple as eating naturally and moving your limbs.

Traditional Weight Loss Methods

You may have tried weight loss pills which did help you lose weight for a little while or joined a rigid exercise program that rendered you achy all over. In fact, you believe that you’ve tried every trick in the book, but just end up either gaining more weight or completely giving up and losing self-esteem in the process.

Better Weight Loss Methods

There is a natural option to help you lose a little, if not all of your excess weight. You don’t need any weight loss drugs or any other artificial means to lose those extra pounds. The answer lies simply with:

  1. Food Intake: watching the food you eat
  2. Exercise: partaking in some regular exercise
  3. Detox: removing the toxic build up from within

1. Food Intake

Whilst food intake is not the only reason for gaining weight, it's one big contributing factor, and starting with what kinds of food you eat on a regular basis is a big help in shedding off a few pounds. Check how much sugar, fat, and salt you take daily and control your intake of these. Make a gradual progression to cut out these foods and replace them with healthy alternatives. Eating healthily doesn't have to be boring.

2. Exercise

You'd be surprised at how much exercise you can fit into your day without the need of visiting a gym. Some ideas to get you started:

  • Take the stairs at work instead of the lifts.
  • Walk to the train station instead of asking a family member to drive you.
  • Stand on trains rather than sitting.
  • Do simple stretching exercises whilst watching TV.

Where possible, try to incorporate some exercise that makes you perspire. Perspiring releases toxic acids that contribute to obesity. An acidic body is more likely to be fat than a non-acidic body. Don't over-exercise though as it will then release lactic acids into your fatty tissues.

3. Detox

An often overlooked concept is a detox or internal cleanse program. Ridding your body of internal toxins and wastes will help you absorb vitamins and minerals better, and reduce the fatty tissues in your body as well as improve your immune function.

But don't get sucked into paying expensive prices for a detox program when these natural ingredients can be purchased for a fraction of the price. Metamucil and other detox powder's main ingredient are from the psyllium husk!

Summary

Bit by bit, step by step is the real way to natural weight loss. Do not fall prone to fast weight loss programs, as they will only lead to frustration and disappointment. Work on reducing junk food intake and increasing exercise and you will soon enjoy a healthier and happier life.
