MV Wilhelm Gustloff: Rust in Pieces

Your Ship is Dead and No One Cares

Now any who knows me, knows I tend to confine my sadism to consenting female adults, so why is it I have no pity for the 9000 thousand refugees that died when a submarine slammed three torpedoes into the hull of the Wilhelm Gustloff. The Wilhelm Gustloff was a vessel with only anti-air weaponry and little military value. So few people know of it's of sinking, the sinking of the HMS Titanic, USS Lusitania, and the USS Arizona do not even add up to a third of the death toll of the Wilhelm Gustloff and they are well known. Even lesser known sinkings like the USS Indianapolis and the Edmund Fitzgerald rank higher in the public consciousness then this ultimate mass casualty and rightly so. When the MV Wilhelm Gustloff left port on the Thirtieth of January 1945 it was carrying Nazi supporters, soldiers, and occupiers fleeing the Red Army's justifiable purge as they removed the plague of the Reich from Eastern Europe. They flew under the colors of a hostile nation during a time of war. No mercy, No quarter.

I now take a pause from my wordslinging to take three shots of rum; one for each torpedo launched from S-13 into the port side of that vessel, and one glass of ale for Captain Third Class Alexander Marinesko.

What do you call 9000 Nazi's at the bottom of the sea...

Overlooking the sheer stupidity of evacuating civilian refugees aboard a naval gray vessel flying the Kriegsmarine flag; I still would not fault the Russian submariners for sending this floating can of excrement to the depths.  In his place with full historical knowledge I'd have flooded the tubes and given the order myself.  Fire All!  Of course I am the Pirate Lord of Cascadia and I am not known for my merciful nature.  The people were not innocent civilians.  They were profiteers of the Nazi War Machine who had moved into occupied lands or natives who had, through either greed or cowardice, chosen to support the occupiers.  The port from which they left was Gotenhafen a sub camp of the Stutthof Concentration Camp roughly 30 miles outside of Danzig.  The vessel had previously been moored there as a barracks ship.  In short the people, the soldiers, the sailors, all likely knew of the atrocities committed in the name of the flag they saluted.  When you knowingly ally yourself to the enemies of humanity you cease to be human yourself

Nazi Killin Bidness

No One Here Gets Out Alive...

I am expecting flak to come hard and heavy at me for this article. Unlike those cowards who tried to escape their well earned fate, I can take it. I honestly don't care about offending the living relatives of the dead and certainly not the survivors. If you still hold affection for a dead relation who was capable of the inhumanity of those who died aboard that ship, you are worth less in my eye then those rotting in the belly of that ship. I care even less about revisionists who like to view the Wehrmacht and Kriegsmarine as soldiers doing their duty to their country with no knowledge of the atrocities. If you take arms and kill for a cause you should damn well fully understand that cause. They are not soldiers, they are either cowardly filth who lacked the spine to stand up against evil or ignorant brutes who actually believed in the backwards ideals of hate and death that were the fascist philosophy of Nazi Germany. Calling them soldiers insults a long standing tradition of those who fight in defense of others.

If there is a tragedy to this it is the death of the children aboard. They are the only ones who were free from blame. They were prisoners of their parents' ignorance, cowardice, or brutality. Mourn the children, fuck the rest.

You won't get any "flak" from me about this. I'm just not sure I get the point.

Just for the record, the amerikan empire machine isn't much behind. A bit more subtle but no less vile.

In 1607 the British arrived in Jamestown and, shortly thereafter, began the calculated extermination of the indigenous population. By 1890 an estimated 90,000,000 people, in North, Central and South America had been systematically slaughtered in the fulfillment of Manifest Destiny.

As a 1/4 descendant of those indigenous people I can say my concern is little for the instrument of justice only that it is served. Those who sought to profit from evil died in the cold embrace of the merciless sea. I am in no way saying that the Nazis were the first or even the worst practitioners of genocide, but for the first time in history the world came down hard and mercilessly on those who committed the most vile crimes of war. It was a turning point for us as species. A soldier who had fought in the first World War wrote to Hitler having realized what he was doing with the 'undesirables'. The man had witnessed the Armenian Genocide at the hands of the Turks and begged the Fuhrer not to drag Germany into such infamous company. Hitler's response was that no one remembered what had happened to the Armenians and know one would care what happened to the Jews. This time history knows and the world cares. So those of us whose peoples have been murdered or raped into near extinction can at least look at the human race say that we have grown. We may not be perfect as Cambodia, Yugoslavia, and the ever bloodied jungles of the Congo prove but we are learning.

As for my people; do you really think we gave the white man tobacco as a gift? Culturally the same as handing a child a loaded weapon.

So, are we doomed, until our inevitable extinction, to exist in a perpetual morass of atrocities we commit against each other?

If that's the case then lead me to the nearest facility from whence I may launch a global nuclear holocaust and let's get this party started!

Only if we stop learning. Slowly we may evolve into a society that just doesn't fuck with one another because it only leads to someone coming along later and fucking you up as payback. It means eventually letting go of the greed that leads to the crimes that leads to the need for justice (re:vengeance) That day is a long way off, don't blow the whole race to hell just because neither our children nor our grandchildren will see it. There will come a time when our will to not destroy each other will abate the only fear I have is that by the time that hour is struck we will have become too efficient at it to stop.

Add to that the fact that we are arduously working to ensure the extinction of our species.

I have less fear of us rendering the planet unfit for life as a whole then I do that we will become unable to live in the environment we created. Serves us right. The stronger species will rise from our ashes. I honestly think cats are next in line they already enslave us. Cat owners are forced to feed them, groom them, provide health care for them, and clean up their shit. If we die off, cats will be forced to develop an opposable digit and do for themselves for a change. About damn fucking time too!

My god, boys, take it on the road. This is the best entertainment (with oomph) that I've read in a century. Bravo to you both. And Horatio gets my weekly comedy award for the cats. Too right!

You're Crazier then we are MF! If CWB and I were ever in the same place it would be the perfect opportunity for a NSA/CIA black bag team to disappear us or use as scapegoats for a false flag op. All we'd have to do is put GT on the same plane and the REAL t'rr'riss will win.

We all know the bugs are the next rulers of Earth. Or maybe fungus and mold. Anyway, whatever it will be, it won't have to work too hard to do a better job than homosap.

Dude there is a giant filamentous algae mass off the coast of Alaska right now! It's big, black, hairy, several acres wide, and reduces birds to a fine bone meal and feathers. We should go worship it as a god and feed it mid level managers and attorneys so it will favor us when it takes it's rightful place. We can be algae pets! YAY!

Wow I bet Lovecraft would shit himself if he weren't worm food. Crazy Eugenicist Bastard.

I've got a list of attorneys and mid level managers to feed to the beast (which may or may not be Sarah Palin's hairdo). Send a large bus, please.

As to being crazier than you, CWB, and GT - that's the f'ing finest compliment I've ever had.

It is a rather exclusive club MindField but I think it's safe to say you're a bona fide member, like it or not.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Exxon Mobile plans to use algae as biofuel! They will anger the goo! They will bring the gooey wrath down on us all! We must have the first Algaen Jyhad!

Afraid, CWB? I'm ecstatic!

HB, can we train the algae to turn on its master? What a way to see Exxon Mobil go...glub, glub.
