The Quest for New Indie Music

As the internet and home recording technology continues to revolutionize the way that music is distributed and marketed to listeners, the demand for new indie music is growing. New and affordable home recording technology is allowing indie music artists all over the world to record high quality music from their own home, without the handcuffs of the major labels trying to control the creative process.

There are also more outlets for these indie artists to promote their new indie music to the fans all over who are looking to explore.

Everyday, I hear complaints from music listeners about the songs that are forced in their head through radio and television, about how a lot of the major label releases are starting to sound the same, and getting tired and old.

This is because a lot of major labels make carbon copies of proven successful artists, because they are afraid to take the risks of trying something completely different, mainly because they are putting a lot of money on the line.

This causes the music to come out with all of the creative life choked out of it, and as a result, a repetitive sound is put on the airwaves constantly.

Because of this debacle there is a demise in the demand for music released by the major labels, which has caused the increase in piracy and as a result, a dent in the bank accounts of the labels.

However, there are certain artists who are not bound by the handcuffs of these labels, and as a result, their creativity can run as far as they want to take it. I'm talking about the independent music artists. We are witnessing a transformation in the world of music, where indie music artists are forming a revolution with the desire to stay independent, and music fans are demanding more and more new indie music.

New Indie Music Reviews

Because of the demand for new indie music, as well as the playing field for major artists as well as independent music artists coming closer to being level, there is also a growth in the amount of indie music reviews that focus on helping a new music artist have a chance to be seen and heard by the fans who are searching for new music, and some of these new indie music reviews even offer music downloads to readers.

While sites such as MySpace are trying to take part in the massive change that is occuring in the music industry through the internet, their recent Myspace Music launch has seemed to neglect the 'do it yourselfer' independent music artists who may not be signed to an indie label.

I have been speculating for years that the music industry would eventually move to an advertising supported free music model, but I expected that new indie music would also be a part of the model as well, and soon it will.

This caused me to start developing a site called JamBuzzer, and my goal is to help the new music artist who is a 'do-it-yourselfer' artist that just loves to make music for his/her fans, as well as help the fans who are demanding new indie music to find and explore new music.

JamBuzzer may eventually dabble with major artists as well, but the playing field will be even for both major artists as well as indie artists, especially as the quality of new indie music increases due to the better home recording equipment that is being developed, as well as the affordability of it.
