Twilight Saga New Moon Original Soundtrack

With all the fanfare over the release of the next movie in the Twilight Saga series,  I thought I'd do a review of the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack from New Moon.  The soundtrack was released on October 16th and honestly, it is phenomenal.  It's currently #1 on the Billboard 200 and this is the first time a soundtrack and it's sequel both reached #1 on this chart.

First, let me say that I was wary about buying this album. Mostly because I was so passionate about wanting Twilight-inspired artists, The Mitch Hansen Band on there I was determined not to like it.  Quite a few people I know bought the cd and they wore me down. Once I listened to it, I had to have it!  This is a great disc.  With awesome tunes from artists like Thom Yorke (Radiohead) and OK GO, I can listen to this album for hours and not get sick of hearing it.  There's a great mix of edgy rock tunes, ballads, and instrumentals.  The best part of the cd, in my opinion, is how well it fits with the story of New Moon.  There isn't a bad song on this cd and I would highly recommend it to not only all the Twilight fans out there, but anyone who really loves good music! My favorite tune on this disc is "Friends" by Band of Skulls.

Tracklist:

1. Death Cab for Cutie - "Meet Me On the Equinox"
2. Band of Skulls - "Friends"
3. Thom Yorke - "Hearing Damage"
4. Lykke Li - "Possibility"
5. The Killers - "A White Demon Love Song"
6. Anya Marina - "Satellite Heart"
7. Muse - "I Belong To You (New Moon Remix)"
8. Bon Iver & St. Vincent - "Roslyn"
9. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - "Done All Wrong"
10. Hurricane Bells - "Monsters"
11. Sea Wolf - "The Violet Hour"
12. OK Go - "Shooting the Moon"
13. Grizzly Bear (with Victoria Legrand) - "Slow Life"
14. Editors - "No Sound But the Wind"
15. Alexandre Desplat - "New Moon (The Meadow)"

I'm with you! This album in phenomenal!! What amazes me is that the music on both Twilight and New Moon's sound tracks is not what I would normally listen to. However, both sound tracks fit the series so well that if you like the series you can't not like the sound tracks!

I went onto the Border's website to listen to the snippets and I have to say that overall, it doesn't sound that bad! The songs seem to actually fit the entire story, as a whole, more so than the soundtrack for the first movie. I think I am going to wait until the movie is released before I buy the soundtrack though. I want to see where they place the songs and see how they fit the scenes.

I didn't expect to like it as much as I do, but I like it a lot more than the Twilight Soundtrack. There were only two songs on that whole cd that I enjoyed :) And they were both by Paramore..I just really like Paramore :) Hope you like it!
