Do you have an offline MLM program that you want to take to the next level? Or are you just starting out and want something small at first that has the capacity to grow if you suddenly need to increase your monthly income? If you said yes to either of those questions, then you'll want to start looking at the internet - but how can you get the internet to work for you?
First of all, do you have a product that has a global reach? When choosing an MLM to promote you should think big. Some MLM companies only service specific regions, and while having a limited customer base is ok if you don't have too many people trying to sell the same things to them, if you're using the internet you potentially have the whole world to sell to - so why limit your market?
Another thing to remember is that you aren't just selling the product; you're selling the company and the opportunity for other people to make themselves, and you, a bit of money on the side. The wider the marketplace the more money there is to be had. How far would you get if the only people you could get the word out to all lived in the same street or town?
Next, look for a company that already has a web presence. Any business that's been online for sometime will have done the research to make sure they have a website, and marketing tools, that convert visitors into customers. If you have a product related to the MLM you can offer it for free in exchange for their email address, but always give them something of value in exchange for their details.

If you're able to contact the people that don't sign up you could ask them if there's a reason why they didn't (without being ‘pushy'). Do you actually use the product you're promoting, or have you been through the buying process? You may only be in this to make money by recruiting new members, but, not all of the people you'll be selling to will be in it for that reason. Using the product will help you to relate to people who are just buying the product. If you know and believe in the product then you'll be more enthusiastic about it - and if you're enthusiastic it'll have an infectious affect on other people. Now, with that in mind, what could people be talking about that your product would solve? Of course it could.
Where would these people be likely to try and get a quick and easy answer to their little problem? Why not look for forums on puppy training.
Now, to some people this may seem like a bit of an odd way of finding new customers, let alone getting people to join an MLM system, but think about it for a moment. If you can go on and answer their question on how to get their carpets spotless again, despite still having a puppy that doesn't know where it's toilet area is, aren't they likely to keep buying if the product's really that good?
Also, how many other people do you suppose read these forums without actually asking the question? Do you think they might be interested in your solution too? I'm willing to bet they would.
The best bit is you don't need to be restricted to one forum or one area where your product could be of use - be imaginative.
Now that you have some happy and contented customers do you think it would be difficult to get them interested in a way that they could not only spread the word - but make some money at the same time? Word of mouth is a great recommendation when it comes to selling a product, after all, would you get any expensive work done on your home without having someone personally recommend a reliable builder? It's a slightly different scale, but the same idea is involved.
Over the last few years some of the major search engines have been running their own question and answer websites i.e. yahoo answers, so this is definitely an area that's set to continue growing in popularity.
Now, a couple of things to remember when doing this, first of all read through the forum a bit before diving right in. It always helps to get a feel for the type of people on their and how you might be able to help them best. Next, answer a few questions before trying to promote your product, nothing's hated more than someone who's blatantly only on the forums trying to sell something. With that in mind, make sure your answers are of value! If you don't give people useful information they aren't going to be interested in what you have to say - and ultimately what you want to sell.

Remember, if they're happy with what you have to offer, and how you interact with them, they are more likely to recommend it to others and be open to anything new you might have to offer them.
