Dallas (23-16-4) won eight of nine games from Dec. 10-Dec. 29, scoring 35 goals over that span, including 13 in the final two contests. Since then, however, the Stars have dropped four straight in regulation - their longest string of regulation defeats since losing five in a row Nov. 30-Dec. 10, 2003.

"Losing is frustrating, and that goes without saying," coach Dave Tippett told the Stars' official team Web site after Saturday's 3-0 loss to Detroit. "We're in a tough spot right now, and we need to keep pounding away and get out of this."

Hockey may not be that attractive to you as a Sport but don’t ever forget that Sports Gaming is all about winning money. The fact is it’s an investment! On a weeknight in October we will often have only one football game to handicap and many times just one baseball playoff game to handicap. Conversely, we may have a Hockey Card loaded with 7 or 10 games or more on the schedule!

There are two reasons this gives us value. One of course is just the added number of games. We can pick our spots! We don’t have to settle for just one game. We can pick from amongst a group of games and find the game that we feel is the best situation or a game where the odds maker is giving us tremendous value.

This takes us to our second point, the odds maker. Which game is he going to spend the most time on? Which game is going to have the sharpest number, both on the side and on the total? Well, without a doubt, the weeknight Football game is likely to be the sharpest line as this game will get the most action. The Baseball Playoff game is likely to get the second most action and will be a very sharp line. As for the Hockey, those 7 or 10 or more games on the card will get less attention from the odds maker and the sports bettors (for all the games combined) when compared to the individual NFL game and the individual Baseball game!

The point is that the Hockey card is where the value will be. Don’t get us wrong: we will certainly be looking for our “spots” to step in and cash in on weeknight football and baseball playoff games but the real value or solid spots for Top Plays is where many won’t venture to look (the Hockey card)!
