Nikon D3000 - Simple and Practical DSLR

It is possible to get a free Nikon D3000 if you know how to go about it. I only know of one way to get it for free and i. e. that is by only by joining a photography contest with a Nikon D3000 as one of the prices. Aside from that, unless you are a big-shot review site like DPReview, there is a slim chance of getting it for free. Anyway, the Nikon D3000 is like the Nikon D40/D40X all over again. It is after all the replacement for the D40/D40x whch Nikon retired this year 2009.

Granted that it is the end of Nikon range of DSLR's it still provides everything for a novice in DSLRs. I myself have used the D40x and I can honestly say that I've never used it to its full potential. What the Nikon D3000 does is to take care of every general setting for the user so the user can concentrate on shooting photos. A lot of people have lost fantastic shots because they took too much time finding the "right" setting of the camera.  The Nikon D3000's built in menu Intelligent Guide takes care of this.

But the Nikon D3000 could have trampled its competition if the features included HDMI Output, tilting LCD (somethin glike the Canon S5IS) and Live View. Just a Live View would have made it the most popular camera on Earth. Sadly, manufacturers like Nikon always want to differentiate their cameras from each other from the features it has. So if you want better features... then you get a Nikon D5000 or a D90.

I fully recommend this camera to begineers especially those who came from the point and shoot world.  It has all the features and capability you need to attend those photgraphy lessons that require a DSLR that is if the built in guides are not enough for you. Like the D40/D40x it surely will give anybody years and years of service.

I must admit, your title lured me into reading this as I am interested in getting a digicam. But I am no expert, not even a hobbyist just an accidental point and shooter - you know, moments where you go damn I wish I had a camera! Anyway, I would prefer something with an MP north of 10. What would you recommend? (low low price a big consideration LOL)

Btw, nice to see ya back :D

Hahaha! Several hubs taught me how to do that. I'd recommend the D3000. The D40/D40x is also OK but since it is retired and something breaks... then you might have a hard time getting it fixed. A D40 goes for 15K PHP right now. A D3000 can is around 27K PHP. Spend more on the lenses.
