no clock display on thermador oven
71Thermador is one of the brands that are considered top of the line when it comes to ovens stoves and cooktops,they give good overall performance but the wall ovens with digital display has a weakness,
The clock display goes dim until you are not able to see anything on the display,this usually happen after a few years,sometimes between five to ten years
dim or no clock display on the thermador single and double s model wall ovens, when changing the display head (clock) it is recomended to change the main power relay board also, some of these models are-
SM272---SMW272---SC301---SC302---SCD302---SC272---AND --SCD272.

basically yes,it depend on your madel--when you open the oven door if it is a double oven it will be the top door--look to your right side at the top of the oven, look through the holes you will see a white piece of paper --write off the model and serial number then check it out, good luck
If Thermador has a recommendation out for changing the display head, maybe this problem (ultra dim or blank display) is due to a design flaw. I know mine has very few hours of use. I'm a little disgusted that Thermador wants about $400 to service what is essentially a close to new oven. They should stand behind it and take care of such a design flaw.
Fyxer, I bought a kit to replace the display head which had gone completely blank. It says to replace the power relay board too. Is this something I can do myself (as Joe Consumer)? Replacing the display head is easy. But accessing the power relay board seems difficult. Any tips would be appreciated so much.
This is definitely a design flaw. Three families on my street experienced exactly the same problem as Bill. I am going to call the service center Monday. Just wondering how much are the parts?

We are talking about hundreds of dollars in parts here. What's with the defective parts. My oven is used very little.
