What can I do to finally have no body acne? Nearly everyone has experienced acne at one point in their lives or another. This is especially common in teenagers or adolescents; although it could affect adults as well. Acne can affect various areas of the skin. Oftentimes, acne affects the face, neck, chest and shoulders. Acne also affects the back and body. Some people complain of pimples, blackheads and whiteheads proliferating on their body. The question is what do we do about it? Sure you can pay stacks and stacks of money to specialists and trust that today's "flavor of the month" wonder drug will work for you, but what can you do to affect your condition in the mean time? Some may feel that the situation is out of there hands but as far as I'm concerned that's not the case. There are plenty of home remedies you can use either independently or in conjunction with other more commercialized body acne treatments.



Causes of Body Acne

Much like every other kind of acne, you cannot pinpoint a single cause for body acne because there are a lot of possible causes for it. A possible cause offered is the excess sebum secretion of the sebaceous glands. Here I revert back to the old standby and recommend the big three: Diet, Sleep, and Cleansing.

There are external factors that could contribute or cause back and body acne. For instance, dirt and perspiration can be trapped on your back if you wear too tight clothing. Talk about unpleasant! Irritation can also cause acne breakout.

Some experts are also looking into diet as a cause of back acne as well as other types of acne. They still say that diet, however, has not been conclusively proven as a definite cause. But they can't deny that people notice breakouts with certain foods, you should consider avoiding these types of foods. From my personal experience I can say I definitely feel this is a strong factor. Besides, why NOT take the opportunity to make a healthy change for your lifestyle? Kill two birds with one stone. Decrease your intake of fatty, greasy foods in order to cut down on the build up or grease in the skin and sebum as well. In the meantime you can also reduce your body fat ration and even your blood pressure! What's not to like about that? I say it's a win-win situation.


Treating and Preventing Body Acne

If the body acne is fairly mild or moderate, it can be possibly treated by over-the-counter acne medications. However, if the body acne case is severe, it is advisable to consult a dermatologist for treatment. This is common knowledge and it's good advice. But what can I do for myself? If you're like me you don't like leaving things up to chance or up to others. I like to know that I'm taking all the steps possible that are in my control to affect this condition. I guess I'm a proactive kind of person. If you are proactive like me, think about some of the ways you can affect your condition on a daily basis. Some of these suggestions might be tedious. They might be annoying. But what it's really about is getting out of bad habits and forming some new, good ones in their place.

In order to prevent back and body acne, it is important that you keep the skin on your back and body clean and dry. That means every single day. Cleaning your back thoroughly will remove excess oils. Do not use harsh soaps as they could aggravate the condition by making your skin dry. This can exacerbate the situation. Your efforts to clean and remove oil with harsh soaps can cause dry skin. Your body will react to this by trying to re-hydrate the skin causing even more production of oil. This in conjunction with an imbalanced pH in the skin can make things go from bad to worse. A simple rule of thumb is: Be gentle but be consistent. It's not how hard you scrub; it's how often and over what period of time. You should also keep yourself hydrated all the time. Drinking a lot of water will greatly help relieve the condition.


Treating Body Acne Naturally

If you are hesitant about over-the-counter medications like antibiotics and creams like I can tend to be, you could try the natural remedies for back acne. Don't get me wrong! I don't necessarily have anything against over the counter products. I know it's popular, common and successful to get a pill from a doctor and forget about it. But keep in mind that many of the prescribed medications... (well, any treatment for that matter) homemade over the counter or otherwise may not be the end all be all cure for your specific case of body acne. These home remedies may or may not work but they are definitely worth checking out. They are either applied on the affected area or taken orally. The following are great natural remedies for acne:

a. Tea Tree Oil. This helps control skin infection. It also helps in keeping your skin hydrated.

b. Diet supplements with potassium, zinc and magnesium.

c. Lavender Essential Oil which helps proper circulation on infected area. It is also great in preventing acne scarring.

d. Witch Hazel which is great for cleaning the affected area.

e. Aloe Vera which helps in skin repair and swelling reduction.

f. Apple Cider Vinegar which is a great astringent.

It's not your fault that acne is affecting your life but it is your fault if you sit back and let it happen to you. Sticking to the all-natural route of ridding yourself of acne once and for all, there are a number of interesting concoctions and potions that are being raved about for their amazing results. Make your own Magic Potion

Methi paste. Methi, or Fenugreek, can be bought in plant or seed form. Grind either form down into a paste and apply it to your acne for 10-15 minutes a day. Rinse it off afterwards with warm water. Methi prevents blackheads, pimples, and even wrinkles.

Pomegranate and lime. Roast some pomegranate skin and then grind it up until it becomes powdery. Mix it with some fresh lime juice and apply it to acne-affected areas of your body.

Turmeric and lime. Mix turmeric powder with a bit of lime juice until it forms a paste. Spread it over acne and surrounding areas. You can leave it on for about 20-30 minutes before removing it with warm water.

Papaya. This is perhaps one of the easiest home remedies to use. Simply apply the juice of some raw papaya to your acne and don't forget to include the skin and seeds.

Tomatoes. Another easy application is to spread the pulp of ripe tomatoes over your acne and leave on for an hour.

You recommend Diet, Sleep, and Cleansing to minimise the chances of acne. I totally agree. In fact, all 3 are forms of cleansing anyhow. Sleep is so important to excrete toxins from within and allow the body to rejuvenate.

Just spotted (no pun) this hub, Monitor. Good advice. I think you are right on the money with Apple cider Vinegar. And the ph balance. We take a tablespoon full of organic ACV (with the "mother" growing in it), every day. Good for so many things that ail one. If not in our meals, then as a tonic, mixed in a large glass of water. Tastes much like lemon water. We also use organic coconut oil; 2-3 tablespoons a day, cook with it, or just eat it down. It has some remarkable healing properties. Research on coconut oil stemmed from noticing what diseases and condtions Polynesians did NOT suffer from. Folks should start looking at food as cures and healing agents.
